Ok so a friend and me have like a game or a fantasy life where we have “wives” yeah I know it sounds immature. I don’t lust and don’t really want these woman in real life. The majority are characters from tv shows. Is it coveting without lust and to not really want them outside of this situation

That is a good question. If it’s giving you enough trouble to post on here I would probably just recommend not playing the game anymore. As far as a sin is concerned, it sounds like kind of something you were just doing in passing and not a sin. But I’m no priest and any kind of issues relating to sin should always be brought up with a priest. But don’t be troubled. Be at peace and it sounds like you are certainly trying to be virtuous.

Here is what Jesus says on matters relating to talk

Matthew 12:36-I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak

And then from St. Paul
Ephesians 4:29 - Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

You should stop playing this game as it could lead to more serious situation. You should also speak with a priest about this matter.

waifuism is certainly covetous. stop it.

cs lewis said,
“For me the real evil of masturbation would be that it takes an appetite which, in lawful use, leads the individual out of himself to complete (and correct) his own personality in that of another (and finally in children and even grandchildren) and turns it back; sends the man back into the prison of himself, there to keep a harem of imaginary brides.

And this harem, once admitted, works against his ever getting out and really uniting with a real woman.

For the harem is always accessible, always subservient, calls for no sacrifices or adjustments, and can be endowed with erotic and psychological attractions which no woman can rival.

Among those shadowy brides he is always adored, always the perfect lover; no demand is made on his unselfishness, no mortification ever imposed on his vanity.

In the end, they become merely the medium through which he increasingly adores himself…After all, almost the main work of life is to come out of our selves, out of the little dark prison we are all born in. Masturbation is to be avoided as all things are to be avoided which retard this process. The danger is that of coming to love the prison.”

that is for masturbation, as far as i understand he refers to the fantasies to become the wifes.

not always.

for example, let’s say you say wonder woman is your wife, as a game, because the way she is depicted is attractive to you, but there, that’s it, at most having some romantic fantasies, but otherwise your life is normal, you get to know girls and realise that WW is just a fictional character, where is the problem? I see it not.

now let’s say that you are in love of your neighbour, and all you do is want to be with her, so you reject other posibilities, because they are not her, you get angry because she is not with you and if she is married you want her to be with you.

you see the diference, how being “in love” with a fantasy character, is less problematic than with a real person that lives next to you (in this example).
