Is this dishonesty? And is it a sin?

Today I had 2 important homework assignments due,
I know I had time to do them but I sort of waited till the last minute (didn’t work on friday, saved it till saturday and sunday I had a cousin’s birthday)

I planned to wake up at 4 40 to get things done, but I guess I didn’t put the alarm right, I woke up at 6 30.

So I was working hard in the morning, time for school came, I was panicking, and my mom let me come home early to finish the work that was due today, I will hand it in tommorrow.

now, my Dad would probably, most likely, dissaprove of this.
If my dad asks me “did you go home early” I would not want to lie.
but if I leave my dad in the dark about this, and respond to his questions without lieing, am I sinning?

If he asks “did you finish the homework” I would respond “no”.
So that isn’t lying is it?

Just tell the full truth. Don’t try and hide things from your father. Doing that causes a rift between him and your mother, especially if she backs you up in your statement.

To just tell parts of the truth is a lie of omission.

If you explain honestly and truely maybe your father will accept that you made a mistake.

Your father would be right to punish you. It is your parents’ job to teach you to be responsible.

I mentioned telling the truth to my dad to mom, but she said no. very strongly actually.
I just really want to avoid sin… what do i do?

being honest is the best solution to that… if you would lie it would make things more worse especially if your dad finds out that you lied to him… just talk to your mom about the issue and explain to her that you don’t want to lie… AMEN …

If you want to avoid sinning further, you are going to have to own up to your dad that you procrastinated and weren’t responsible. Is it going to be pretty when your dad find out? Probably not. That is just another consequence of your actions. Until the ripples settle back into stillness, you are just going to have to accept that this is what happens when you throw the rock in the water in the first place. Good luck, hon.
