Is a future three day period of darkness ever mentiond in Sacred Scripture? Your help is appreciated!
You misunderstand me, I’m merely asking whether the Bible mentions a future period of 3 days of darkness - I am not asking about when the world will end. I am well aware of Jesus words on the matter. I know that nobody knows when the end of the world will be.“Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?”
But he said to them: It is not for you to know the time or moments, which the Father hath put in his own power." (Acts 1:6, 7)
Jesus had frank words to say to his apostles. The bishops seem to still accept those words by keeping silent on future events. It is not for me to know either.
Oh, I understand. Thanks for your help!Sometimes people post information that they anticipate people coming to the thread later on may be looking for.
A “type” of the three days of darkness is inferred by the entombment of Christ until His Resurrection. Is a future three day period of darkness ever mentiond in Sacred Scripture? Your help is appreciated!
Thanks, Tm30! And Enoch and Elijah are supposed to be dead for three days and come back to life. Peace!A “type” of the three days of darkness is inferred by the entombment of Christ until His Resurrection.
Thanks for the feedback, Mercytruth! The ‘dark night’ has been experienced by several Catholic mystics and saints, which is to some degree or another often associated with "as Jonah was three days and three nights in the fish’s belly, so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."
It is possible that the three days of darkness is a future universal experience of the dark night that was first experienced by several of the OT prophets, most extremely by Jesus Christ, and since then by several of the mystics and saints of Jesus Christ.
