Those milk and cookies looks so delicious…😛
Certainly do munch munch

There are any number of really good, knowledgeable and charitable Protestants on here who I love dearly :grouphug:

And yes, some of us Catholics let the side down (I’ve been guilty of it myself on occasion, to be sure - especially when in the middle of a 2am insomnia-driven session). Sometimes more so among ourselves than with non-Catholics :o

IMHO, the atmosphere of this forum has improved from what it has been in the past. Maybe one reason is because a great deal of attention is now being paid to enlisting Prayer Warriors? Those who pray for each other learn to love each other, I’ve heard it said. Another reason is, at least it seems to me, the moderators are quite actively enforcing the guidelines in such a way that there’s been a noticeable change for the better … and this is a good thing.

Being human, it ain’t gonna be entirely perfect, and we all still have a ways to go … Like me for instance. I’m gonna end this paragraph with an obnoxious winkie smiley and hope for mercy … 😉

Seriously though, I think everybody in this thread as well as others who haven’t made it here are “cool peoples.”

Thank you. Can we get the rules amended to require respect for all faiths and lacks thereof, not just Catholicism?
What she was actually saying is that Catholics have a greater chance of getting banned for lack of charity than non-Catholics.

Yet this is not reflected in the rules, and I myself have not noticed this tendency at all. Human eyes are only human, but if this is the truth, let the rules reflect it. Why have one policy on paper and another in practice?

I’ll trust our Moderator on this one. I know of quite a few Catholics that have been banned. You may want to PM the Moderator if you are still uncertain.

Geez… I have been following this post for a while now…and boy has it gotten off subject!🤷

Personally, I’d prefer less moderation and rules.

But one rule I’d like to see is that non-Catholics pre-qualify before posting by reading articles on Catholicism here and at other Catholic sites, especially articles dealing with the topic on their mind. So we don’t have to keep going over the same stuff again and again at an elementary level.

I disagree here. I do not think that it should be necessary for non-Catholics to “take a test” before joining the forum. Most of them are intelligent and charitable. We should not punish them because of the uncharitable ones. Besides, many of the uncharitable posters are not cradle Protestants, they are ex-Catholics.

And many are Catholics, and some are Protestants. I have seen many Protestants and some Catholics acquit themselves quite well; they are extraordinarily good examples for their respective faiths. I would have expected the examples of Catholics to outnumber those of Protestants, given the demographic makeup of this board; but the contrary seems to be more true from my perspective.

And as an ex-Catholic myself, I somewhat resent that remark 😛

LOL That was funny:D

Im a NCC here and Ive almost always been able to post with charity:thumbsup:

I wish all people here would do the same. The catholics here know I do not agree with catholic doctrine but I guess I post in a respectful way.😃

I think before I write. If I am upset or appauled at what someone wrote, I wont respond for fear of being rash:o

I do feel this is the way Jesus would want us to behave. After all, our goal, as christians, is to become more Christ-like. You cant really do that if you are calling other christians or non-christians names. 😦

I think you have to be thick -skinned;)
Thanks for being an example of Jesus:thumbsup:

I think that if you’re a :crying: baby you probably don’t belong on internet forums.

BTW, all this discussion of moderation and rules is in itself a violation of the Forum Rules under the “Enforcement” section. Those of you who have “issues” with them are supposed to contact the Moderator or if you have a really bad hangup you can contact Super Moderator Anne Carmel, but all this other stuff needs to cease so the actual topic can be discussed.

Personally, I feel that if you are easily offended by people who disagree with your religion then internet religious forums are not for you and you’d be as well to avoid them.

I have no problem with anyone who disagrees with the Catholic faith, so long as they are charitable and respectful. I disagree with many other religions and in fact all but the Catholic faith…otherwise I’d be something else. :bounce: I make my cases out of facts…and most times from scripture, if someone disagrees, (so far as I’m concerned…) that is on their own head. All I can do is lay out the facts and trust that the Holy Spirit can open them up to it.

Beyond that… I pray.

YAY thanks for the milk and cookies!

:grouphug:

I would set up an apologetics forum for thin-skinned people but it’d be too much work with all the crying and carrying on that’d ensue. ;):p:D

I can see your point. Unfortunately, most get so used to presenting the same dogmatic arguments over and over that they do it to me as well, when I’ve already read and countered those points earlier in the thread.

For instance, I just started a thread on a specific topic, and specifically requested people to address concerns on other specific issues to a different thread, and the first three responses I got were exactly what I asked to be posted elsewhere.

It would be nice if more people (on both sides of things) would be rational (and somewhat dispassionate). It’s hard to really discuss something with someone when you have people jumping in at random with…

“The Catholic Church is the one true church that was set up by Jesus. Peter was its first pope, and that’s proved from Matthew 16:18! It’s been around for 2000 years, and protestantism has only been around 500, so we know the Catholic Church must be right.”

I’ve seen that same combination about 20 or 30 times in the past two weeks. Wouldn’t it be much nicer if people would actually read and consider the arguments of the other side?

Honestly, for now, I’m with the original poster on this one.

Why? They are the same ole arguments that were put forth 500 years ago and refuted then as well. If you’re tired of hearing these responses, maybe you should consider how WE feel about it as well. I’ve been reading your posts and you are bringing nothing new, so how are you different than we are? 🤷

aw :grouphug:
She’s right though. You do well for an agnostic, and the funny thing is that very often folks like you and the atheists present themselves better than either the Catholics or the n-Cs.

Believe me… I for one appreciate ya. 🙂

Actually, I’m a “she”. 😛
