Today somebody told me about a person that i should watch out from and to not tell her anything or say anything near her because she will tell others. the other day i was angry and was complaing in front of others in which i confessed on saturday.

then i told the person telling me to becarefull why i was angry or upset about another the other day, I said that she snaps at me and she doesn’t have to talk to me like that just talk to me calmly.

Because i said this did i reveal the faults of another and is this grave enough to keep me away from holy commuion. i was just telling the other why i was upseti didn’t mean to harm anyone.

When in doubt go to Confession.

OFFENSES AGAINST TRUTH

CCC 2475 Christ’s disciples have “put on the new man, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” By “putting away falsehood,” they are to “put away all malice and all guile and insincerity and envy and all slander.”

CCC 2476 False witness and perjury. When it is made publicly, a statement contrary to the truth takes on a particular gravity. In court it becomes false witness. When it is under oath, it is perjury. Acts such as these contribute to condemnation of the innocent, exoneration of the guilty, or the increased punishment of the accused. They gravely compromise the exercise of justice and the fairness of judicial decisions.

CCC 2477 Respect for the reputation of persons forbids every attitude and word likely to cause them unjust injury. He becomes guilty:
  • of rash judgment who, even tacitly, assumes as true, without sufficient foundation, the moral fault of a neighbor;
  • of detraction who, without objectively valid reason, discloses another’s faults and failings to persons who did not know them;
  • of calumny who, by remarks contrary to the truth, harms the reputation of others and gives occasion for false judgments concerning them.
CCC 2478 To avoid rash judgment, everyone should be careful to interpret insofar as possible his neighbor’s thoughts, words, and deeds in a favorable way:

Every good Christian ought to be more ready to give a favorable interpretation to another’s statement than to condemn it. But if he cannot do so, let him ask how the other understands it. And if the latter understands it badly, let the former correct him with love. If that does not suffice, let the Christian try all suitable ways to bring the other to a correct interpretation so that he may be saved.

CCC 2479 Detraction and calumny destroy the reputation and honor of one’s neighbor. Honor is the social witness given to human dignity, and everyone enjoys a natural right to the honor of his name and reputation and to respect. Thus, detraction and calumny offend against the virtues of justice and charity.

It is always best to keep custody of one’s tongue; and confession never hurts, but it’s important not to be too scrupulous. If you think you have really harmed this person’s reputation then it may be good to do what you reasonably can to improve the situation.
When in doubt, ask your priest.

i recieved holy communion. ithought that it not grave enough to keep me away from it but its still a sin. i dont like talking about others or even listening about others.
All i said was this person doesn’t need to talk to me or snap at me just talk normal to me. every time i do something i am always thinking if it is grave to keep me away from holy communion.

i didn’t harmed this person’s reputation. the annoying thing is i went to confession the day before this. the other problem is what if it is grave and i jugded it wrongl. but i feel i have to start making decisions on my sins.i thinki do have ocd or a little of it so no matter how small something might be i tend to overthink on it and get stuck.

i didn’t start the conversation i was just getting warned to becareful around a particlau person in which i was complaining near.

i guess i am wrinting here to get an answer on wether i made the right desison or not but i know many here would say you have to make the deision. and if i ask the priest on here he would say move on.

What you are describing that you did sounds like detraction to me which is a sin of grave matter. However, only your priest can tell you.
