if that machine is being used to prevent the spread of the Corona virus, its insulting to God.
Umm… how? Is God insulted when we don’t catch a virus?
I can’t remember the official terms but Catholics believe bread and wine miraculously become the body and blood of Christ, yet the miracle isn’t enough to prevent the spread of a virus. Especially if the Priest is cleaning everyone is cleaning their hands… don’t you think that’s a little insulting?
No, because you’re misunderstanding the Eucharist.
It’s not magic. It would be superstitious to assign to the Eucharist some sort of magic physical power
that the Church doesn’t teach that it possesses. So: even though it’s the Eucharist, it still contains the accidents of bread (among them, gluten), and can make celiacs sick. Even though it’s the Precious Blood, it still contains the accidents of wine (among them, alcohol), and is not good for alcoholics and those with particular digestive ailments to consume. Since there are physical elements present, those physical elements interact with the physical world normally. And so, viruses can be present on them, and can infect people. That’s not “insulting”; it’s “the way physical entities work.”
I think its a sad day, when my Priest can not present me with the body and blood of Christ because of man’s fear.
There’s a difference between “fear” and “prudence”.
Would you put Jesus in a plastic tube machine?
If the Church approved of it? Yep.
And before anyone says that we put Him in a chalice, He put Himself there.
Great! So, then, we’ll put the unconsecrated hosts in the tube, and then Jesus will put Himself
there…!
Obviously no Catholic church will use this to distribute consecrated hosts.
If you could properly purify it… why not?
Jesus from a Pez dispenser? Just wrong.
Nice red herring.
