Is this lying in confession?

So I just got back from confession, while I was there the Priest asked me “Do you think it is ok to sin just because you can go to confession later and have your sins forgiven?” I told him, “I don’t think it’s ok to sin”. As I was walking out I was thinking about it and there have been times just this past week that I’ve committed a sin and then thought “well i can just go to confession”. I told the Priest that I don’t think it’s ok to sin because I wanted him to know that I take confession seriously and that I don’t go running around sinning all the time just because I can have it forgiven later. I’m not sure if I’m being scrupulous or if I did lie during confession. Please help me, if it is a sin I would like to go to confession as soon as I can but that won’t be until march

You didn’t lie if you didn’t deliberately keep your true feelings from him. It sounds like you only remembered after the fact, so it wasn’t a lie.

However, having that thought (I can just go to confession) is sinful and you should confess it next time, now that you remember.

Yup.

I know sin is wrong all of the time, and I would be honest in telling a priest so if he asked me, but somehow I ignore that rather frequently. It doesn’t mean I’ve lied to the priest.

You committed a sin & said : “well i can just go to confession”. Now that was after you sinned…you didn’t say: I will commit this sin because I can confess it later.
That would be wrong.

Everyone commits a sin(sins) and later on are sorry and as Catholics are able to go to confession.

Sins come first ; then sorrow; then confession!

He didn’t ask if you ever did it; he asked if you thought it was ok to do it, and you don’t.
