I was at Mass yesterday (I went to a parish I had never gone for Mass before), and after the priest consecrated the body and blood of Christ he used the word “friends” instead of “disciples”…
ie. This cup is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting Covenant, which will be shed so that sins will be forgiven. Do this in memory of me. Then h****e gave the cup to his disciples (here he used friends instead) and said, Take this and drink from it. …
Is this form acceptable? I had never heard it this way. It sure doesn’t sound right to me…
