The other day I helped someone put away a volleyball net. He had gone to the beach, and I thought that he would be playing volleyball with women in bikinis, and so may be tempted to lust. I did not want to help him set up the volleyball net because of this. Do you think I was an accessory to a possible temptation to sin? Or am I just being crazily overly-scrupulous? What do others think?

Well he probably thought you were stuck up at first.

You don’t know him so don’t be judging him at all, if he wanted to lust he would just sit in the sand watching.

He could also be gay, or prefer obese old ugly woman fully clothed that preach the gospel? You just don’t know him.

Far too crazily overly-scrupulous. Every premise of your concern is an assumption which relies on another assumption, like your assumption that this man would be moved to lust for women (with whom you assume he would have been playing) because of your assumption that he is even attracted to women in the first place.

I love Jack17’s reply.

If you had assisted him to lust at the beach then that’s a sin. Helping him set up or put away equipment isn’t a sin for whatever reason he was at the beach.

I would say though that it’s not good to be spending time thinking about what bad things others may be thinking about… that could be a near occasion of sin.

Well, this guy is certainly straight. But I think you’re right, there’s way too many assumptions here. I really need to stop overthinking everything and stop worrying so much and not be so scrupulous. THank yoU!

Unless he has a girlfriend in his arms or his last sexual thoughts were of nude women you don’t know. Gay or bisexual people come in all forms and if they are in the closet they are experts of hiding being gay to family let alone strangers.

Those women could be his fag hag buddies.

So then he isn’t lusting for other women, he has a girlfriend right there. You don’t know if they are married, and they could all be friends. His girlfriend would know what kind of guy he is.
