Is this poster appropriate to display in parish?

It sounds to me as though we’re reading more into the poster than the poster is trying to say. That’s why I said that it would be a nice suggestion on the part of the original poster to ask the pastor if they can put out the fliers that go with the poster. This would solve the problem.

This reminds me of a poster that was created for the 750 anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi. It was one of many. But this one in particular drew much attention, because under the picture of St. Francis it said, MIRROR OF PERFECTION. Some people objected to it, arguing that it was placing Francis of Assisi above the Blessed Mother. The friars had to print out a handout that was placed on a rack next to the poster. The handout clarified the whole thing for everyone. No one knew that Pope Nicholas IV had given Francis that title. Once people knew that, some were upset with Nicholas IV and others simply said, “Oh. I didn’t know this.”

Fraternally,

Br. JR, OSF 🙂

I’m sorry if you discerned any fear or anger in my post. I spent 10+ years dabbling in various religions such as Buddhism and New Age spirituality before I converted to the Christian faith. My concern doesn’t have to do with cooperation with other faiths as much as the message the poster appears to be sending (Christianity is just one valid expression among equally valid expressions).
I used to see that poster around before I became Catholic, and I will admit that that is certainly the message I got from it - that God reveals Himself equally to people of all religions, and that nobody can consider their religion to be “right.”
