Dear Forum!

The Newman Center at my school ok and has a good orthodox catholic students. However, I am wonder is it possible that the priest is a bit on the new age side cause every time He opens the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass he always says, “and the communion of her spirit be with you always” also as well in one of thier chapels the tabernacle is a tree stump petrefied and modifided so as hold the blessed sacrament? Any help would be appriciated.

Sounds like it! He has fallen for the enclusive language trap. Call the attention to your Bishop, before it it too late. I understand that the Bisops have banned that useage.

Calling somebody “New Age” because they use feminist language and like “nature art” is a little like calling anyone a Nazi when they start seeming a little too fond of the police. IMHO, the little truth in it doesn’t excuse the extremity of the metaphor. Better to preserve the original meaning of those words. There are still situations severe enough that we have need of them, and in full working order.

If he was referring to Holy Mother Church - we have always said “her” in this context.

If he wasn’t - well I’d ask him what he meant.
