Is this sin in anyway? (help quick and I might turn it around)

A similar situation to something i posted days ago.
I have a project due tommorow so i called in school today saying I wont come (my mom doesn’t speak english and I think the V.P * trusts me)

He asked why
I said something about me having to work on a project due tommorow.
I wanted to be honest and I think I was

He said something about … “Sick”
So I assume he said that “I’ll just say your sick”
I think thats what he did say.

Now We reach the issue.
I was wondering if it was wrong to Not go to school if I wasn’t sick
As in, You have to be sick to not go.

There are still an hour and a half of school left so I can go now if someone can help me quick.

I just assumed it was okay and kept working, but what if I was doing something wrong by staying home even though im not sick

This issue is robbing me of some needed peace.

I really would like to finish this project (My grade and someone elses depends on it)
but I don’t want to sin either

The reason why im doing this project now is mostly mis-management of time. I thought I could finish sooner than I am. Plus I work VERY slowly. and am easily distracted.

Please tell me if this is sin in anyway, even venial.

I’m not an expert. I don’t think this is a sin though, you tried to be honest.
You had no intention of lying or having other people lie for you, as far as I can tell.

well it is good that you did not lie…

as for not going to school if you are not sick - I honestly do not know… I struggle with scrupulosity so I cant really give an accurate answer hopefully others here would be able to answer the question but I wanted to say - is there any chance of finishing the project tonight? I remember when I was in school there were many times I only had one day to do a major project and I would stay up all night and do it not something I’d recommend but if you’re able to and if think you’d still do a good enough job…

For your own peace of mind, you could mention it in your next Confession and see what the priest has to say about it.

I do not have the moral authority to pronounce whether or not you have sinned, but I would point out that you are not ordinarily obligated to attend school under pain of sin. (It could be a sin if you were ditching regularly as it might be a squandering of resources, etc.) As long as you can live with the consequences of your absence – and it is a unique circumstance to allow you to do other school work – it probably is not a sin. In any case, I don’t think you need to rush to school now as fast as you can.

As far as the miscommunication about being sick, that can be hard to tell. Certainly, you do not want to lie, and, to your credit, you were extremely forthright. However, we do not want to be party to deceit by allowing someone to lie on our behalf. I know how these things go, though. The conversation moves quickly and you arn’t even 100% sure what was said. So it could well be nothing to worry about.

I dont think it is a sin but you have to ask yourself the question of how it got to that point in the first place. Are you overwhellmed with work, have you managed your time right? Something so that in the future you dont have to worry about calling in at the last minute. You and I are not always going to be perfect at this, apples dont grow from the apple tree on the first day, but something to consider.

part of learning is learning how to manage time. Sometimes we have to prioritize. In your case, you made an error in judgment on how much time you would need to complete a project. You had two options, not complete the project or lose school time to complete the project. I don’t see how there is a sin involved. You did not lie and you are not responsible for someone else lying.

Hopefully you will learn to allow for more time on the next project.
