Is this stealing hardware/software?

I am not a computer expert, but this situation just dawned on me.
Years ago this computer had a melted hardware or something, so we took it to a friend, who got parts from Ebay (I think) and fixed it. By Replacing things, he got someone elses computer and swapped parts. I am not sure if that is legal. We also have a program here that belonged to the previous user, this program is something people have to pay for.
Is it a sin/stealing, to use this computer or that computer program?

This means that you replaced the hard drive. I think you might be a little bit scrupulous–replacing/upgrading hardware on a computer is not sinful or illegal.

The fact that the hard drive has software you did not pay for on it is not really something to worry about because of the way that most modern software is sold–usually software can only be installed on a limited number of machines. If you are concerned that the software was never payed for, then you could consider purchasing or uninstalling the software.
 
If you had permission from the other person to use the parts from their computer than it doesn’t sound like you did anything wrong at all.

Actualy I do have a few symptoms of Scrupulousity.
Is it wrong for me then to use this software?
THe parts the friend got were from Ebay I think. So how would the seller know our intentions?

It is pretty picky this questions.
 
Dude Ebay’s Awesome, don’t worry about it. Unless you know that something is stolen then don’t worry about it. The onus is on the seller if he’s selling stolen stuff and u don’t know about it.

Could you specify what the software is?
Honestly, if you’re really concerned about using the program, it’s as simple as uninstalling the program from your computer or purchasing a copy.
Using the hardware (hardware being the part that your friend installed) is certainly not something to be worried about, but the software may be–realistically though, I would not worry about it because the license for the software allows the user to install it on a specific number of computers. Because it is installed on the hardware that was sold to you, it is likely that you need not worry about the license being violated. Chances are that the person who sold the hardware is no longer using the software you are referring to.
 
This whole thing sounds very scrupulous to me…and I could be scrupulous at times. If I were selling my hard-drive, I would be selling my entire hard drive, whatever is on it. Unless there is something illegal on there, I don’t think you have to go in and delete, let’s say MS Office for example. If it happens to be on there and you didn’t buy it, so what? You now own that hard-drive and anything on sed hardrive. I buy cd’s on ebay/half.com, I’m purchasing them from a seller and not the record company, so according to your logic it would be stealing from the company? Basically, this is saying you can’t buy anything on ebay b/c the money doesn’t go to the company, but a seller. Unless there is something you know is illegal or immoral and the hardrive (like pornography or illegal music) you don’t have to get rid of anything, but I"ve been wrong before. Ask a tech savy priest I guess if it’s really bugging you. ::D:D
 
Let me just say that if anyone ever does sell a hard drive, it would be wise for them to wipe it with a program to prevent recovery of sensitive information or anything.
 
The software is CCleaner.
The previous owner paid for it I am assuming, not me… So is that stealing?
