Is this the beginning of the end for communion in the hand?

Really?..I would think the focus should/would be on the Blessed Sacrement, rather that who was disbursing it.
Good point… can I use it when discussing ad orentium… we don’t need to see the celebrant… he should be leading, and facing the Lord in the tabernacle.

Facing God NOT the tabernacle.

Of course the focus is on the Blessed Sacrament. But are you saying that you would not feel honored to receive the Blessed Sacrament from the Pope?

Facing God IN the tabernacle.

Good one, MrS.
🙂
This nonsense is exactly why it is better that the tabernacle is NOT in the middle of where mass is being offered.

We do not offer mass to Jesus in the tabernacle so if one thinks the priest should be facing Jesus then something is wrong in their education and training.

Where should the Tabernacle be. In a back room like an old antique.

“To separate tabernacle from altar is to separate two things which by their origin and nature should remain united.” Pope Pius XII

Perhaps the inverse of these statements would be more accurate.

Yes, but come on. Receiving the eucharist from the holy father, that would be way too cool. I can not believe that some one wouldn’t think that if they were honest with themselves. 😃

Yippee, Hallelujah and Thank God - I hadn’t heard this but if it happens, they’d have my vote - even though I don’t get one. I’m in favor of the Blessed Sacrament being administered by Priest’s Consecrated hands.

One thing to remember is that the priest at Mass is more than just a man, he is in persona Christi. So when one recieves the Eucharist from a priest ( or Pope 😉 one is recieving the Eucharist from Christ Himself.

And that is a very GOOD thing to focus on.

Talk about diabolical disorientation. How sad.
The tabernacle is not the central focus of the church - and definitely not the central focus of the Mass.

If that is diabolical then the Roman Catholic Church is diabolical.

Actually for most of the history of Christianity, that tabernacle, or cupboard that held the reserved hosts, was in the sacristy. The tabernacle on the altar is a relativly new.

And for most of the history of the Church, the the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and her Immaculate Conception were not taught as doctrine, only optional belief.

See here and here.

So here are the proofs for my assertions, can you provide proof for yours?

To start - we offer the sacrifice of Calvary to God and not to Jesus (we don’t offer Jesus to Jesus).

Do I really need to go any further?

In case I do feel free to look at: forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=12721&highlight=offer+mass+to+God

Perhaps if you were more charitable in your posts, people would treat you better. They are only treating you with the respect you show them.
