Is this true about spiders and Christ in the desert?

Hi I grew up in the San Francisco Bay area in the 1940’s thru the 1960’s. While I had a catachisem (hope I spelled it right) class at Sts Peter and Paul Church in North Beach, we were told that we were never to kill spiders, because when Christ was in the desert, spiders spun a web around Christ to protect him from Satan. I can’t find anyone else who has heard this. Is there a way to find out if at one time this was taught in the Church. Thanks and God Bless. Peace, Carole
