And this was in the COLUMBIA, Feb 2012, page 17:
“Contrary to conscience protections that are already a matter of law, Catholic Relief Services and Migration Refugee Services were told that a new condition for the renewal of cooperative agreements was the provision of offering a full-range of so-called reproductive services, a condition we hope may soon be dropped.
Th US Department of Justice has created additional problems. It has attacked the Defense of Marriage Act as motivated by ‘bias and prejudice,’ akin to racism, thereby implying that churches that teach that marriage is between a man and a woman were guilty of prejudice.
The Department of Justice has also argued before the Supreme Court for the virtual elimination of the First Ammendment’s ‘ministerial exemption,’ which protects the freedom of religious denominations to choose their own ministers without state interference.”

COLUMBIA is published by the Knights of Columbus

Kiss the constitution goodbye, folks. the current administration has replaced it with “Rules for Radicals” and unless we get a nice, practicing Catholic into the White House in November, it will disappear all together. 😦

Yes, see all the threads with the bishops’ reactions to the HHS ruling that all health insurance except that for actual parish employees include artificial birth control, the morning-after pill, voluntary sterilization… this would apply to health insurance offered to employees of all Catholic charities, hospitals, schools and universities, etc, with the possible exception of elementary schools.

Yes, the current DoJ is declining to defend DOMA.
The Department of Justice has also argued before the Supreme Court for the virtual elimination of the First Ammendment’s ‘ministerial exemption,’ which protects the freedom of religious denominations to choose their own ministers without state interference."
Yes, there was a recent case in which a Lutheran church was taken to court for firing an elementary school teacher, and the DoJ argued that teachers were regular employees not covered under minsterial exceptions. The DoJ lost the case, however, which may affect the HHS ruling above wrt elementary schools.

Pray…

One of the scary things about all this is that they are doing so much of it behind the scenes…in the dark…no media coverage at all.

I was shocked to learn of a couple of things going on right here in Illinois under everyone’s nose…found out from reading our Archdiocese Website.

The most transparent Administration in history? Try the most conniving, secretive Administration in history!

We need a change in administration…SOON.
I wish we could get him outa there even before November, but at the same time I want to bolster chances to get someone else in there. Personally, everyone is haggling over the Republican candidates, but at this point? I don’t really care which one it is, as long as he can beat Obama to get him the heck out. UGH!!! The problems with anyone else would be nothing compared to what he would do.

Good evening, Teelynn,

Well, please be careful what you wish for. I heard a Cuban on a radio talk show talking about the Cuban election that ousted Batista. The popular attitude was “Anybody but Batista”. That’s when Fidel Castro was elected and look what happened to Cuba, then.

I bring this up, because I have finished with both major political parties. As far as the Republicans, all the true conservatives except Santorum have withdrawn from the race. Neither, imo, Romney nor Gingrich are true conservatives and have sold out tot he powers that pull the strings of both major parties.

In closing, we desperately need a God fearing president, of any party (includes Tea Parties). And, we need a God fearing Congress, too. So far, we have half a Congress. Maybe if we can clean the Senate out, we’ll have a whole Congress.

Mostly, we need a God fearing public. To elect God fearing politicians. To hire God fearing teachers at all levels of education. Somehow, we need to put the fear of God into the Elitists and liberal intelligentsia… including very much into the mainstream media.

God loves all of you, lurkers, too,
Don

Boy you hit that one on the head Don!! I am afraid the fear of God is going to be by God’s own design…will have nothing to do with how we protest. The Lord will take care of it…big time.

Good afternoon, Teelynn,

Yes, ma’am, I’m afraid you’re right.

God loves you,
Don
