A couple months ago I invited several friends of mine to go on a vacation with me for several days, which is scheduled for next week.
Since making the plans, a couple of concerns have arisen.
A) I fear that one of the people who will be coming is a near occasion of sin for me. She is a close friend of mine, but as of late there has been alot of confusion on my part regarding my feelings for and attraction to her. Often when I am around her, I am very uncertain as to precisely how I should act, what I should and should not say and do. As such, I usually end up doing something or saying something (or failing to say something) which I am at least uncertain about, or even which I think to be a sin. I want to make clear that my concern is not about anything actually sexual happening (due to the character of our relationship, the fact that there will be many people there, seperate sleeping quarters, etc.). Actually, if I were to go into examples, it would probably sound like scrupulosity.
Is this a near occasion of sin which I am obligated to avoid (and, thus, to cancel the vacation)?
B) My other concern is this. A number of those there will probably take the opportunity of being on vacation to get drunk (one of whom is underaged). I will not be encouraging them in this at all, let alone taking part in it myself, nor providing alcohol to anyone underaged.
Am I obligated to cancel the trip, or is this not my responsibility?
Thank you
