Hello, to make a long story short,
My mother works as a manager in a company, and she acquired donations in form of snacks and beverages for a company picnic. The picnic had a much lower attendance then it was planed and there was a lot of stuff left over. Some of them she gave away and some she brought home. The thing that troubles me is that she never told the person from whom she got the donation that the picnic didn’t had attendance as it was meant to be and that there was so many things left. I am pretty sure that she wouldn’t be required to take them back but it makes me feel bad anyway. Am i wrong to use them?

I think you’re being scrupulous. If there was food left over, giving it out among those who did attend (including herself) seems like the sensible thing to do.

Hopefully, you have talked this over with your Mother so that each of you has had a chance to see how the other feels. You Mother may have some insight for you regarding the donations that will ease your conscience and she might appreciate seeing how you perceived this situation.

Yes you are being scrupulous.

Stores cannot put food that’s been out of the store back on the shelves, so if she returned them they would go in th garbage.

Its better to bring home the foods than throw it on the garbage, your mother did not bring home everything what it left but she shared to others.
