It’s no secret that white nationalists are feeling empowered.
This doesn’t answer my question. What racist comments are you referring to that Trump made?
Not that all Trump supporters are racists…
*Most *Trump supporters aren’t racists. Probably almost none. Frankly, I’ve heard some pretty disturbing things come out of Hillary Clinton’s mouth. There are sites that give lists of what some people call her racist statements: breitbart.com/big-government/2016/06/09/hillary-clinton-racist-top-5/ conservativetribune.com/hillary-anti-semitic-remark/ And this gem: “If that is your position, then I’ll talk only to white people” in speaking to a black man.

Or this one: newsninja2012.com/dnc-email-leaks-show-racist-outreach-to-latinos-called-taco-bowl-engagement/ Even better than referring to an entire group as the ‘taco bowl engagement’ was her charming ‘vagina vote’ for women. Can you imagine if Trump had said that of women?

The point here is not actually whether some of the quoted comments are actually racist, but that the media would have called the same statements racist had they come from Trump.

How do Hillary supporters feel about being assured ‘not ALL Hillary supporters are racists…?’ Or…‘not ALL Hillary supporters are criminals?’
but white nationalists probably voted for him over Hillary
Probably… based on what? Maybe they did. Maybe they didn’t. There’s a nice picture of Hillary and KKK leader Robert Byrd embracing. In her memorial to him, she called him a ‘true American original,’ her friend and mentor. Will Quigg, KKK’s grand dragon in California, backed Hillary.
What is it you mean then?
I mean that we are all flawed, but there are major differences in degree. Mother Teresa was ‘flawed’ because as a human being she wasn’t perfect. So is a meth-smoking drug-dealing murdering pimp. I’m saying that ‘God chooses flawed individuals, therefore X might equally have been His will’ is assuming that we are looking at two individuals who are ‘flawed’ to roughly the same degree.

I personally believe we’re looking at a case of Peter vs. Jezebel–a vast difference in degree and intent and any semblance of desire to work for others vs self or grow or change.
How does the media *make *him out to be “an ugly ogre” when every “ugly” thing he has said and done, he has uttered and done all by himself? In front of us all, clear as day?

Are you saying that the awful things he has said and done…are a media invention?
When we have video and tapes and witnesses of him actually saying and doing these things???
This, to me, goes to the heart of things in many ways. I would argue that yes, much of what he’s supposedly done is a media invention. Yes, even when he’s on tape. Two examples:

One is the constant charge that he’s racist, repeated ad nauseum. But when we actually look at many of those statements–they’re not ‘racist’ at all. I was stunned when I finally went to look for his ‘racist’ comments and saw that things that clearly referred to our economic situation, for instance, were being used to call him ‘racist.’

Two: Trump on tape mocking a disabled reporter. When I saw it, I believed it, too. Then I saw a video giving a lot more background on it and showing that this is a hand gesture he has used repeatedly when ‘quoting’ someone who seems a bit flustered or unsure of what they are saying. He has used the same gesture in regards to others who are not handicapped.

Think of the play Twelve Angry Men. It’s a classic on exactly this topic: how appearances can mislead us. This is especially true when the media is setting out to shape opinion and when we are being told the same story over and over and over and over.

I mean that we are all flawed,
Yes.
but there are major differences in degree. Mother Teresa was ‘flawed’ because as a human being she wasn’t perfect. So is a meth-smoking drug-dealing murdering pimp. Right.

But, since both candidates are flawed, it’s rather useless to wonder whether Trump is the Cyrus in Isaiah.

Clearly, Hillary could be this flawed individual as well.

Offering prayers daily for Donald Trump … love him or hate him, he’s the President.

It’s no secret that white nationalists are feeling empowered.

Not that all Trump supporters are racists, but white nationalists probably voted for him over Hillary.
And felons and drug dealers probably voted for Hillary. So what? You don’t judge a candidate by a tiny percentage of his or her supporters.

I think Trump was the graver danger. Not so much his policies, though some of his rhetoric and Cabinet appointments have terrified me, but in what I see him doing to my fellow Catholics and other Christians. Over the last few months, I’ve seen some really nasty racist comments and a certain amount of contempt for the poor. My fear is that we will bargain away the rest of our principles in hopes of getting Roe overturned. The moment Trump won, we should have been resisting the parts of his platform that are contrary to Catholic teaching, not slapping ourselves on the back and talking about her new Cyrus. At least with Clinton, we would have had no delusions about where we stood and what to do next.
What parts of his platform are contrary to Catholic teaching?
