Has TV, on the whole, had a positive or negative effect on our culture?
This question addresses not just the content of TV shows but the medium itself.
In the interests of disclosure, there has been, on another sub-forum, a more limited discussion of TV’s effect on one’s spiritual life. But I would like to expand the discussion to include TV’s impact on the culture as a whole.
I think an argument can be made that TV fragments consciousness … with disconnected shows, images, etc … without any context … empty signifiers …
