If your parents don’t want you to smoke, your not honoring them by doing so.
If they told you not to smoke, then yes, you have sinned,

It doesn’t sound like you were sure a year ago when you did it. And, one of the requirements for mortal sin is that knowledge. Nonetheless, none of us on here can truly tell you what category your sin falls into. Why not just confess it the next time you are in a confessional to wash yourself of it. It may be a great learning opportunity as well, depending on what the Priest offers as direction.

I doubt it, but it’s certainly not smart. Read up on the health effects of smoking.

Neither, but, certainly foolish, as you could have become addicted in very short order, and then what? Not only would your health become affected, but the struggle to stop smoking would have changed your life completely…think things forward in the future, and make decisions based on how you see your future and its coming challenges.

I would also look at the Catechism of the Catholic Church (do a google search, there are several copies availiable on the Internet) as to what the criteria is for a sin to be mortal or venial.
If you are worried about this, I would recommend going to Confession. If the sin is already Confessed, then no longer be concerned about it as it is forgiven.
Many young people get tempted by cigarettes and other drugs and alcohol. I would encourage you to get involved with your parish and/or Catholic youth groups so that you surround yourself with good influences to help you withstand temptations. Also, prayer will assist you, especially prayer to Our Lady.
I’m 33, so it wasn’t that terribly long ago I was young myself and I know what it is like to be tempted by these things. I also used to smoke. Everyone will tell you this, but STOP before it becomes a regular habit. There are a lot of health risks , as you likely know, not to be mention it’s an expensive habit and smoking underage can also have legal consequences as well as moral.

The church has always said that suicide is a sin, and that is what smoking is suicide.
I have a personal reason for hating smoking as well. Cigarettes killed both my parents, one form lung cancer at only age 34, and the other from COPD/emphasema.
