Is Understanding the Catholic Faith Worth The Trouble?

Well, that’s the thing…I lived for so long just having a personal relationship with Jesus that now I wonder if I’m fully understanding his ways and his mission, like maybe I’ve been putting too much of my own dogma into Jesus’ word.

My thinking is that if I start focusing on learning the traditions of the Catholic Church, then it’ll lead me to a better understanding of Jesus. I’m looking to find peace with the answers given by the CC because right now I am in a state of conflict with the Church.
Dear The Good Life,

The sacraments will indeed give you a better understanding of Jesus. As well as study of the faith as much as you are able. You dont have to give up a personal relationship with Jesus, but you will be out of a Jesus&me mindset and realize its a Jesus & WE mindset, that is what I consider at each Mass.
All the Church, the Church Millitant, suffering and triumphant join together as one. One Body, one Shepherd. Lead by Jesus Christ.
🙂

The Compenduim, Q and A - so simple yet SO rich.

vatican.va/archive/compendium_ccc/documents/archive_2005_compendium-ccc_en.html#“I%20believe”%20–%20“We%20believe

The very first is:

1. What is the plan of God for man?
1-25
God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life. In the fullness of time, God the Father sent his Son as the Redeemer and Savior of mankind, fallen into sin, thus calling all into his Church and, through the work of the Holy Spirit, making them adopted children and heirs of his eternal happiness*.*

The faith is not an easy journey, but one which brings you great joy and love. Keep plodding on, knowing that until you reach Our Lord in heaven, no one will ever have all the answers. I will pray for you. Also ask St. Monica for help.

EXACTLY! When all we have is our personal interpretation without the tradition and teaching of the Church, we can make our “Personal Jesus” mirror our own opinions and beliefs rather than vice versa.

I found myself doing this often as a Baptist, especially in my college years. Jesus tended to agree with my personal morality quite often. :o

I think most everyone would say that there is just no way for anyone to understand fully the Catholic faith until we meet God face to face, but

the reason why you may have this in your heart is because you have a lot of unanswered questions. I had a lot of questions, and everytime I had the chance to ask, I’d bring them up. Slowly, I get to put the answers together, in prayers, and I am amazed at how God reveals His word to my understanding.

The bonus doing it this way is that your way of understanding can be shared with your family in every circumstance that may come, anytime.

Just be patient because God’s word has it’s own way of getting understood, and be happy and thankful that the Lord has provided you with this gift, for you and your family, and who knows, the rest of the world!!!

God Bless.
