TheProphet:
Exoflare,

Excuse me? A “you too” argument consists of not answering the question posed to you, and then throwing the very same charge at your opponent. It’s a diversionary tactic.

Notice I directly answered your question that yes, the Pope is elected by men… I take no issue whatsoever with this statement. However, when I proceed to ask you for the reason why your logic of man’s involvement somehow proving lack of divine intervention only applies to the Pope, and not to the Quran or the office of Caliph (which are also the products of human activity), you avoid answering my question and then accuse me of a logical fallacy that I had never committed in the first place.

So, put quite simply… I already answered your question; now please answer mine.

See again your answer. You throw a confession that your pope is elected by men - and not by God, so can he be a representative of God?

What I mean that “you too” is, after saying that, you then drag the Quran, which is not the topid OF THIS THREAD. If you want, I have politely offered you, open another thread about that. You try to devoid my further question by questioning Holy Quran in a thread design to question Vatican. Shame on you.
And where exactly did I say “not by God”? … You added that part yourself. Again, you’re putting words into my mouth. The only thing that’s become apparent is you’re confusing the subject of the Pope as a man, and the office of the Pope that is claimed to be started by God

You’re acting like merely using the word “Quran” is somehow against the rules here. I’m not asking you about the Quran itself, I’m asking about the flawed logic you use to make your point, and you know it… so stop trying to pretend I’m diverting this thread toward the subject of the Quran. The real issue behind what I said is the double standard you apply to other people to try and prove their beliefs wrong that somehow does not apply to your own beliefs that share the same characteristic you criticize. This is simply a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Now do you finally want to start a dialogue here, or continue with the name-calling?

You miss something. The holy Spirit is present at these elections and influences them. No, the Spirit does not vote, but inspires.

The holy Spirit is present in all Church gatherings and influences them. It is Jesus Himself who promises this in His gospel.

John 14:26 The Advocate, the holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name–he will teach you everything and remind you of all that (I) told you.
Jesus spoke these words to His apostles and by direct succession, the Spirit, sent by God, is present in each bishop, providing the teaching and guidance that Jesus promised.

God be with you,
Subrosa

I would try be more specific in that explanation if I were you. From what this guy has said so far, it appears he is severely confusing the choice of Pope with the specific issues where protection of the Holy Spirit would even come into play. If you think explaining “infallibility of the Pope” to a Protestant is hard, this will probably be even more nerve-racking…

In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

And how you can be very sure that Jesus chose the chosen Pope? Isn’t the Pope elected by men?
And the second question, why the decree from Vatican is seen as infallible?
*Jesus set aside Peter yes in the Bible, he too set aside the desciples. Pope and bishops. They pass their position to a successor through devine guidence. God is present in their lives and mind so when appointin a new pope they do so devinely guided, men but with the Holy Spirit. I hope this clears up your question.
*A decree from the Holy See (Vativan) is seen as infallable because men set aside for Gods work on earth are devinely guided by the Holy Spirit in their decisions.
