Father compromised. He celebrated the Mass for the feast but he had us do the Sunday readings. Not sure why he did that except maybe he didn’t want to have to practice two homilies.
I just always thought the Mass had to parallel the vespers so if it is still vespers for Peter and Paul the mass would also.
What of monasteries or churches who do vespers before or after mass? It is rare but I do know of a couple churches who do it.
