I understand the concept of intrinsic evil and how contraception is an intrinsic evil. I also understand the Church’s teaching on “just war doctrine”. Is war considered an intrinsic evil? If not, please explain. Several people pointed out this supposed inconsistency in Church teaching with regard to contraception (never allowable even if there is a good motive) and war (sometimes allowable if defensive). Please explain how to reconcile this. The only thing that I can figure is that the “object” of a just war is not killing people, while the “object” of contraception is always separating pro-creation from the pro-creation act.
Please help. Peace!
