I’m not into tv shows related to the paranormal, but every once in a while I’ll watch stuff like Ghost Adventures or The Haunting just for fun. I don’t take it very seriously (even though I do believe in ghosts) and just find it entertaining to see the investigator’s reactions or get a little spooked from the stories. I completely avoid episodes if they are related to anything satanic. Other than that, I never really thought of ghost shows to be bad to watch before, but I caught one episode that had to do with an exorcism. There was a Catholic Bishop in it helping the family and everything, so I was conflicted as if it was necessarily sinful to watch. I in no way would EVER try to open myself up to occult activities or let shows like this cause me to doubt my faith, but should I stop watching shows like this? I asked my mom (I’m 18) and she said that it’s okay because it’s good to know that things like this are real, as long as I don’t follow them. My dad on the other hand thinks that watching these shows makes an “opening” for evil. Thoughts?

Watching these shows can I believe give you food for thought, but not all food is good for you.

If whilst watching you feel fear, then that’s a sure sign that you’ve now got a fear you didn’t have before or it’s awakened a fear you’ve harboured. How can those things be at all good.

I avoid, it’s good housekeeping imo…

The thing that surprised me when I watched those shows (stopped not because I thought it was wrong, but because I lost interest) was how often the ones I saw ended with an exorcism. And when they’d bring things up to their Protestant pastor, he’d invariably say “Go to the Catholics. They know what to do.”

I think they’re kind of like junk food – a little won’t hurt you, but it shouldn’t be the majority of your diet.

Ghost Adventures seems very staged. That said I think it’s pretty hilarious and used to watch it pretty regularly. Zak always cracked me up the way he would talk to the “ghosts”:

Before sin, you are watching people who are working scams on naive people at best, dabbling in the occult at worst.

There are eleven million other television programs available to watch. Find something that is inspiring, educational, or uplifting.

I recently watched a popular tv show with a medium.

I was angered because it seemed that she was taking advantage of people’s pain of loss.

Her readings seemed vague enough that it could seem accurate to someone in pain.

She said something like, “ I see a number 7, does that mean something to you?”

Well, a 7 could mean something to me as well.

I’m not sure she means to deceive, maybe she’s very perceptive and sees that as her sixth sense.

“Cold Reading” is a showman’s skill. Hang out with magicians and you too can learn to do it!

Personally, I have had to turn these shows off in the middle of watching them and sprinkle holy water around the house. I think these shows are cracks that can let demons into our homes.

In Europe (Scandinavia) a while back, there were scientific tests being used to prove or disprove the spiritual side of the universe locally. Sadly, parts of the world that embrace spirituality use tests like these on TV.

Hopefully we can fix this margin.
