I looked up a porn video to see if it existed and for the sole reason only. Is it a mortal sin and grave matter?

Why did you have to look up a porn video just to see if it existed? Context and motive are important. For example, let’s say your friend tells you that her ex-boyfriend uploaded a sex video of her to a porn website. If you look for that video for the purpose of reporting it to law enforcement and having it taken down from the site, that’s a good thing to do. Or say you were searching for something innocent, came across an illegal video, and reported it to law enforcement, I think you could legitimately search to see if it’s still there, say, a week or a month later.

Short answer yes. Long answer depends on factors listed above. This also assumes the requirement of mortal sin were met ; Knowing it was a grave matter but doing it anyway, etc etc

That is not the sole reason only. You need to be honest with yourself to accurately evaluate your conscience.

Porn exists. The entire world knows this. Why the interest? That is the genesis of your trouble.

if i put myself in your position i would say i was definitely setting myself up to sin. the thought was there, i acted on it, the question of giving consent is a personal answer.

Helping law enforcement isn’t always the right thing to do

Oh you can do anything but if it’s to help throw someone in jail it’s justified? Go stay at a homeless shelter for a few nights and see what % are criminals whose lives were ruined by their incarceration. I support dna overturning cases more than I support law enforcement according to my catholic values.
