Good choice.

But prepare for it to EAT almost all the memory from your hard drive!!!

World of Warcraft, from what I hear, is also very strategic, as well as a good game for friends to get together on when they can’t visit one another.

And nobody said you can’t bike, play sports or read just because gaming’s one of your hobbies. I’m afraid a lot of people have this misconception that every gamer that plays stuff more intense that Peggle or Wii Sports is a loser who eats Cheetos and Snickers while gaming in his mom’s basement.
Very well; sorry if I offended you. The strategic elements of the game could be good for the mind. I was just trying to make sure that you weren’t headed for your mom’s basement, but it sounds like you’re in reality.

Do something more productive; you’ll be thankful in the long run. Take up biking, running, swimming, reading, etc.

Take this from someone who’s hardly played the game but still looks it up on the internet.

World of Warcraft is a pretty neat art piece. The concept, the cosmology, the lore of the job-classes (Mage and Warlock being my faves) etc. The whole game in of itself is a piece of work that can inspire. If you think RPGs are time-sucking, mindless games who turn people into basement dwellers then you give the artistic value of such games too little credit.

Not everybody who is hooked onto a game is so because of the gameplay you know.
