Well then, listen to him and forfeit the match. I assume he knows something about you that we don’t that would make him give that advice.

I remember well the sweat and grime of the wrestling mats in high school. That was in the mid 1970’s and there was no co-ed involvement whatever between the girls and the boys. If I had been assigned to wrestle with a girl I may have rather enjoyed the experience but would also have felt it was quite wrong, simply because males are far more easily aroused and enticed with such grappling. I can’t tell you not to do it in future, nor am I qualified to say whether or not it is a sin. But I know I would have felt very, very compromised if I had been expected to do so.

Is it a sin? Maybe vienal, but I don’t think it’s mortal.

However, is it wrong & improper, yes.

It’s unfortunate that these stereotypes about male and female sexuality are still so prevalent. If you are a male, how can you be so certain that you know what arouses and entices females? I have to say, I try to see the funny side when a man sets himself up as an expert on women’s sexuality!

I assume you’re a guy.

I won’t comment on the right or wrong or occasion or mortal or venial sin or lust, etc. etc. I expect you to be mature enough to determine that for yourself.

What gets me here is that it’s somehow proper from an athletic/sportsmanship perspective for a male to wrestle a female. I don’t care about accusations of preconceived notions, but females, generally, are physically smaller and weaker than males. It is the unfairness that stands out here. Only men should wrestle men, and only women should wrestle women. And usually, they should be in a similar weight class.

No, you should not wrestle a girl. Not because you might sin, but because it is not right.

I’ve wrestled plenty of women in BJJ. It’s only wrong if you lose 😂

…I have lost before.

Can’t comment on whether it’s definitely a sin or not.

But, I had to wrestle, too, in our all-male gym class, before co-ed gym had come about. And if I had to wrestle against Sue or Debbie I wouldn’t have “enjoyed the experience”; I would have thought it was somewhat “icky.”

Some clarification is in order:
  1. is you opponent an actual girl or a guy pretending to be a girl
  2. is your division a mixed sex division?
    I thought those weren’t allowed
But to answer without your clarification, if you were merely wrestling the girl outside of sport, it would be sin (and literally battery).

It is certainly sinful for the coach who puts kids in that situation. Now, their culpability may be absent due to the ignorance of our modern day, but the sin still occurrs

You run the risk of causing serious physical injury to a girl if you wrestle with her competitively. You should decline on that reason alone. Its also not a fair competition simply because males are more physically powerful than females.

Wonder if OP knows the girl’s record. Just because a lot of folks are presupposing the girl would be at a huge disadvantage. Wonder if that’s actually happening.

Way back when, I sparred against females when I was studying martial arts

I was 38 years old at the time and the first female was a girl who was just two years older than my daughter at age 21. She had a black belt.

I didn’t know what to do, as I was raised never to hit a girl, and also being it was just body blows which were allowed, didn’t give me much of a target, especially in that she was short.

She came at me with full body punches and kicks and I merely tried to deflect them. I was just a white belt

Anyway, I shared the story with a guy who was a 10th Degree Black Belt, who also boxed. He told me, when you spar a female, sting them the first time just to get their respect. Your Sense will call you on it, but it works

Sure enough. Whenever I spared a female, I’d give them a good punch and get called for it. However, they stayed back afterwards. 😉

Idk my preist said shouldn’t

Really? Blind obedience to a priest? The OP didn’t say that the priest had a good reason for his opinion, so why should he listened to without question?

why do some people automatically think that when a male does anything sports like against a female its wrong cause the female is “smaller”?

Aren’t you suppose to match people of equal status in sports matches… weather it be wrestling, boxing or martial arts? What sense would it make for a coach to put you up against someone weaker or smaller then you, what would you learn from that?

did you’re priest you shouldn’t do it or that it shouldn’t be a sin? Not sure why it would be, though… its a sport, you’re following the rules of the sport, not cheating in any way, so why would it be a sin?

The only issue would be if you don’t think the girl is qualified to wrestle against you, then that’s something you need to take up with your coach… but I’ve known women with the ability to take down a man twice her size, I wouldn’t underestimate her.
