Is wrestling a girl a sin?

Really? Blind obedience to a priest? The OP didn’t say that the priest had a good reason for his opinion, so why should he listened to without question?
Because presumably the priest knows something about the OP that makes the wrestling a problem. As long as he is not asking for accommodation of some kind, and is willing to take the loss associated with a forfeit, he should at least give the opinion of the priest who knows him some weight.

In terms of sport it can be difficult to make a judgement from an outsider position. We don’t really know the strengths or capabilities of the opponents. Generally speaking, though, from mid-teens, males are stronger than females… of course there’s some leeway with this as some women are powerful while some men can be less well built, though I believe the overlap isn’t all that great.

Due to upbringing, it doesn’t come naturally for (most) men to want to overpower a woman, and this is a good thing, though in sports this is really for the instructor to decide as there may be a valid reason to instigate this type of situation …in martial arts, for example, it’s not automatically supposed that the man would win… especially if they abide by the rules.

If, however, like CelticWarlord says, the close, personal contact may be a near occasion for sin… which I’d suspect it may be for many males, I’d suggest that you skip it. You can improve your wrestling without having female opponents.

I agree with porthous11. Additionally, in this #metoo era, where is the legal protection for a male wrestler going against a female? I’ve never witnessed a wrestling match that didn’t involve contact with bodily areas that would otherwise get someone jailed.

Only if you lose! (Just kidding…it was a joke). No not a sin. Good luck.

You all are assuming that the girl will play by the rules too. In High School there was a girl who would do what ever it took to win. If she is qualified in your weight division it doesn’t matter if she is a girl. I would look at it as a learning adventure.

It’s definitely improper for them to make you wrestle a girl. Wrestling is a very intimate (high-contact) sport, and that sort of body contact isn’t proper for two opposite-sex people.

I wouldn’t even need to address the possibility of sinfulness, because I wouldn’t participate. Boys wrestling girls in organized competition shows a culture that is adrift; IMO one should forfeit, and maybe even consider quitting the sport if the ruling organization is going in this direction.

If culture was adrift, there would be hope of setting it right.

It has become completely unhinged.

It is a sin? In and of itself, if done purely for the athletic contest, no. It is just crass and utter stupidity.

Can it be an occasion for sin? Yes.

I don’t disagree. But makes you wonder where this might leave sane sex attracted persons.
