I sometimes find it hard to pray
Because there are people around or it’s hard to think with my eyes closed and focus

Whatever the reason

I like to write or type on the computers
Letters to God just talking about my life

Is this praying???

Someone once said to me that if I believed in God I would talk to Him, Writing is communicating so yes that is surely prayer, Do keep the letters though, for future reference…

I’ve long thought that keeping a prayer journal is a good idea - I just don’t have the discipline to do it.

I think this is a very nice idea … I’m sure God appreciates hearing from you in any way you can communicate.

It sure is, but continue your traditional prayers

Writing prayers to God is a fine way to pray and one used by several saints – in fact, that is the source of a number of Catholic prayers. In contemporary times, keeping a spiritual journal has been recommended as a good way to pray and/or a support to prayer and spiritual direction.

I do this. I am not sure if it is prayer but it is communication

I’m no saint in fact I’m barely anything but trying to get back
But I’m glad I’m doing something right

I fell today because I forgot to use new strategies to avoid porn

But I’m definentky going to start constantly journaling now
Sometimes I do it on my phone

But I assume it’s the same as long as my mind is communicating with God

I posted about “writing to God” some time ago. To my mind it is spiritually advantages, esp. if you review your “letters” It is helpful in clarifying one’s thoughts and intents an love for the Lord. It would not replace meditation or prayers per se, but as time passes you will see your progress in communing with the lord. You will see what needs to be changed in your life, what needs to be “fixed” and the direction you wish to follow. Writing to God isn’t for everyone, but I think if it helps you to strengthen to press forward in your quest for reaching out to the Lord, then I will call it a prayer. Don’t forget so much of the OT and the NT is the “Written Word” and no one would argue that it isn’t a “letter to God,” esp. the songs of David. Keep writing for God hears and sees what is in your heart, but don’t let this become your only mode of prayer. Peace and prayers for you.
