Is Yahweh all of the Persons of the Holy Trinity or just God the Father?

He, יהוה / Yahweh is the Father

Is 63:16
“For thou art our father
though Abraham be ignorant of us
and Israel acknowledge us not
**thou O LORD art our father **
our redeemer
thy name is from everlasting”

Isn’t Yahweh just God, who is the Trinity? I mean, Jesus claims the name of Yahweh so wouldn’t Yahweh be simply God?

This is the way I’ve understood it:

  1. *]Yahweh is the God the Father (Is 63:16 post #2)
*]Jesus is the God the Son (Psalm 2 below)
*]Spirit of the LORD is God the Holy Spirit (Is 61 & 11)

    Spirit of the LORD
Isaiah 61:1 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek…”

Isaiah 11:2 “And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.”

    Son of the LORD
Psalms 2:7 “I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.”

The only problem with this is that of Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace

so, I don’t know how Jesus, the everlasting Father fits in 🤷

BTW where does Jesus claim the name of Yahweh, just wondering…because ‘his name is above every other name’ ? or something else?

This question reminds me of the Diary of St. Faustina.

I don’t remember what is says word for word, but she said that souls will contemplate on who God is, and after millions of years of contemplation, they will realize that they have just begun!

=WJL-Is Yahweh all of the Persons of the Holy Trinity or just God the Father?
***Rev.1: “8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” ***

*Exo.3: 13 "Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” 14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO AM.” *

***Yahweh, the unspoken name of God in the OT has in infinte love and mercy made Himself known to us through Jesus.

The common Christian understanding og God is that God is One Divine Nature, shared co-equally in three Divine Persons. Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This remains after 2,000 years of thought, debate and insite the most difficult to explain mystery in Christianty. Indeed God is MYSTERY!

The "One who is to come in the Name of the Father and the Force of the Holy Spirit, is Jesus Christ the Son of God!***

Love and prayers,

  1. In that verse from Isaiah, there is no mention of Yahweh, it’s talking about God. I looked at the Hebrew and it didn’t say Yahweh anywhere in the verse. So God is the everlasting Father, as one person. But Yahweh is the Trinity? I don’t know, I’m confused.

He took it in John 8:58-59

58 Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say to you, before Abraham was made, I am. 59 They took up stones therefore to cast at him. But Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple.”

Verse 59 makes clear what Jesus means because the Jews were about to stone Him. They knew He was claiming the divine name for Himself and at the same time claimed to be God, something that was very, very blasphemous. He claims the name for Himself in other places to, but I think this is the best instance because it showed that He really was claiming divinity.

    Hope this helps!

I always understood Yahweh to be God.

Isaiah 63:16

thou O LORD art our father
**our redeemer **
thy name is from everlasting”

Isn’t Jesus Christ the redeemer?

Whenever LORD is used, the Hebrew reads יְהוָה

יְהוָה means Yahweh
Isaiah 63:16

Is Yahweh all of the Persons of the Holy Trinity or just God the Father?
Isaiah 45
21 Come here and declare in counsel together: Who announced this from the beginning and foretold it from of old? Was it not I, Yahweh, besides whom there is no other God? There is no just and saving God but me.
Yahweh is the ONLY God
Isaiah 45
23 By myself I swear, uttering my just decree and my unalterable word: To me every knee shall bend; by me every tongue shall swear,
24 Saying, "Only in Yahweh are just deeds and power. Before him in shame shall come all who vent their anger against him.
Philippians 2
9 Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
As a side note, in the Aramaic Peshitta NT, the word “Lord” is sometimes translated “Yahweh”

So Philippians 2:11 reads:
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Yahweh, to the glory of God the Father.
😃

Is Yahweh all of the Persons of the Holy Trinity or just God the Father?
I think it is both ways. YHWH (or Yahweh, or Yahwe, or Yehovah, or Iehova, or Yehwih, or Yehwah’, or Iao, or Iaho, or Iaou, or Ieou, or Iaoue, or Iave or whichever transliteration you prefer ;)) refers to the Father, who is God; and by extension, the Trinity - since there is one God in three persons. Even so, in common usage, the Name YHWH is often used to refer to the Father, so it might be confusing for some people if the Name is used to refer to the other two Persons.

Are not God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit the same God, the same being? They are all God. They are all Yahweh. They are all one, yet God has manifest himself in three beings. The Trinity is a concept to help us understand God, yet it is reality; there is a Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, all in one God.

As a side note, in the Aramaic Peshitta NT, the word “Lord” is sometimes translated “Yahweh”

So Philippians 2:11 reads:
😃
Actually, the more precise term is Mar Yah (ܡܳܪܝܳܐ, also Mor Yah), “Lord Yah”. And yes, whenever the word Kyrios is used in Greek, it is generally rendered as Mar Yah in the Syriac.

…And that every tongue should confess that Yeshua Meshiha is Mar Yah, to the glory of Alāhā His Father.

Be careful not to think too much along the lines of God “manifesting” Himself to us in “three beings” and think like the Sabellians

God has always been, is, and will always be triune in nature. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are persons not separate beings. They are eternal, not just a manifestation.

**Yahweh = God,God = Yaweh and both God and Yehweh = The Father all one and the same."]

The Father [God / Yahweh] + The Son [Jesus, Christ, Redeemer] + The Holy Spirit [Sanctifer and giver of Gifts] = "The Holy Trinity.

One God, Three Persons, Co Equal in everyway and co-Eternal. ONE Devine Nature and Three Divine Persons = “One God”

And no, I can’t explain how, but I can add insite as to why:)

Love and prayers,**

You’re right. :o After reading my post it sounded almost like I was a member of another heresy that’s been floating around the US since about 1830.

I should’ve been more clear, I was referring to Isaiah 9:6 in which John7 was trying to say Yahweh is the everlasting Father. There is no mention of Yaweh in that passage it’s jsut speaking of God.

Zach

P.S. Omyo12, where do you get that Hebrew text so you can copy it on to a post?
