This is what I’m experiencing as well. My Spiritual director suggested that this is a sign of the charism of intercessory prayer. It is fruitful in the way that who you pray for you become bonded to and part of their future wellbeing in some way or another. That inspires a real sense of purpose. There is a quote from Corrie ten Boom that I always remember.
“We never know how God will answer our prayers, but we can expect that He will get us involved in His plan for the answer. If we are true intercessors, we must be ready to take part in God’s work on behalf of the people for whom we pray.”
