Our church is having a special devotion for Mercy Sunday at 3pm. which is considered to be the “Mercy Hour.”

Yes, we’re actually having a diocesan wide event all week leading up to it, and then a gathering at one parish on Sunday for confession and chaplet and veneration of the image.

Auckland NZ is probably small compared to most US cities as we only have a population of just over 1 million.

Every year on the weekend after Easter we hold a Eucharistic Convention with local and international speakers. This year my PP is one of the speakers and I imagine he will spend hours hearing Confessions along with several other priests.

It’s an awesome experience. One year I lost my voice, and I hadn’t even been talking or singing much, but for three days I couldn’t speak so I had to hug my kids instead of growling at them when they did something wrong or quarrelled. I think God chose that to be my acts of mercy.

When I got my voice back I was still literally ‘glowing’ whenever I talked to someone about the weekend. It was like falling in love. With Jesus.

Though I think it is a good devotion, I understand some PP’s do not think this particularly helpful and a bit right wing.

I am interested in the Divine Chaplet. Our Sacristan does it. I have asked him several times for a copy but he hasn’t been able to get around to it. Perhaps he is a bit busy,

Does anyone have a copy please?

that is the day of our Confirmation reteat for youth and adults, and we will join the rest of the parish at 3 for the chaplet
