Just curious and I don’t know if there is a post already on this but…how many of your parishes are going to be celebrating Divine Mercy Sunday and what you will be doing?

Ours is. We’ll be having the regular Masses and then we will be having a special time for confession (not a penance service, just an hour for confession), then we will have Holy Hour, and after that, Gethsemane Hour with the priests. I hope to make it to everything! 👍

No my parish isn’t and I don’t expect it to be mentioned either. Last year not a word was said about Divine Mercy.

So as you are attending a Divine Mercy Mass could I ask you to remember the people of my parish including myself.

In my prayers

We do! We even have a human size statue of St. Faustina and Jesus 🙂

I will take a picture and post it here when I have a chance.

Our church will be having a Divine Mercy Sunday Devotional Hour from 3-4pm with sung chaplet,Benediction, prayers and devotions. I think they have had it 3 years, but this is the first time that I have done the Novena and to go to this service.

I understand that the catholic channel EWTN will have it live on Sunday for those who cannot go or don’t have it in their churches.

((blessedstar)), I will be glad to pray for you and your parish.😉

It is Divine Mercy Sunday in *every *Catholic Church, whether it is specifically mentioned or not. It is part of the official liturgical name of the Sunday (along with Second Sunday of Easter).

The good news, blessedstar, is that you can receive all the graces of the day even if your parish does not have a separate Divine Mercy celebration. What you need to do is make a good Confession, receive Communion on Divine Mercy Sunday, and perform some works of mercy/charity of your choice. (The Confession does not have to be on that day. It can be within several days before or after. A person aware of mortal sin must make the Confession before receiving Communion, of course.)

We are having a Divine Mercy Celebration at another one of the four churches shepherded by our pastor. It will include an hour of Confessions, followed by veneration of the Image, Adoration, Chaplet, Benediction, and conclude with Mass.

Our parish is as well. Confessions,Divine Mercy Chaplet, Mass, Procession of Blessed Sacrament and Benediction.

It will be my first time attending 🙂

Should one go to confession before Mass on Divine Mercy sunday? My parish is having confession after Mass, but also has in availible on sat. evening. Thanks, Tim

Ours probably won’t. We don’t seem to celebrate most to these types of days. 😦

I am under the impression that we are supposed to go to Confession and receive Holy Communion, pray the Chaplet, and adore the image, all on the same day, in order to gain the graces. I’m not certain if the Novena is also required, as well.

Ok thanks, its just having confession after Mass threw me off some.

No problem! You’re in my prayers!

Plus you can watch the Mass on EWTN that will be broadcast from Stockbridge if you can get it.

And the website marian.org has lots of Divine Mercy information if you want it.

You must be in the state of grace to receive Communion. If in doubt, go to Confession before. If only venial sins to confess, you can go to Confession before or after.

Yes we are having a service at 3pm with sung chaplet and Benediction. This will be my first time going.🙂

I emailed my Priest and he said confession 20 days prior or after for the indulgence as per the Jan. 2000 document on Indulgences the Apostolic Penitentiary. Tim

The Indulgence is separate from the graces of the thing itself. (Which I don’t fully understand.) The Indulgence is only an Indulgence (not to be sneezed at, of course!), but if you do the thing according to how St. Faustina wrote it, apparently it’s like a secondary Baptism.

I’m reading her diary now , but haven’t found when the Lord said to go to confession to her yet. Thanks , Tim

Yes, our Parish celebrates Divine Mercy Sunday.
I feel so blessed! I love this holy season,
40 days of Lent,
Holy Thursday,
Good Friday,
Holy Saturday Vigil,
Easter,
Divine Mercy Sunday!

I can attend two Mass that day, one in the morning, one in the afternoon. Here is our Divine Mercy schedule:
Code:
* Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament 2:00 p.m.
* Chaplet of Divine Mercy                           3:00 p.m.
* Benediction                                            3:45 p.m.
* Holy Sacrifice of the Mass 4:00 p.m.
And I will teach CCD afterwards. I will be in the church whole day!!🙂

chaplet leaflets for novena in both English and Spanish have been available in Church since Holy Thursday, article about the devotion in the bulletin, those interested will meet in Church at 3 to pray the devotion. If it is like previous years it will be sparsely attended, except that we are ending the Confirmation retreat by bringing the candidates to this devotion, so we will have at least 3 times as many people as last year.
