Just curious to know if there are any churches out there offering the Sacrament of Penance to Catholics on a day of mandatory penance that kicks off the penitential season.

By contrast, how many Masses/ Ash Services is your Parish offering on this non-holy Day of Obligation?

Thanks.

One Mass but no confessions unless you go tap Fr. on the shoulder and request his presence in the Reconciliation Room.

There will be confessions scheduled ONCE during all of Lent: the Penitential Service the week before Holy Week. Otherwise it’s tap Fr. on the shoulder when you can catch him.

Confession from 5 - 6 during Holy Hour, with Mass at 6 (same confession, adoration and Mass schedule EVERY other Wednesday evening).

My parish is awesome, standard penance schedule as every Wednesday, which is three times, once after each morning mass (there are two) and before evening mass.

I wish my parish offered confession today. 😦

Otherwise its wait till the weekend…

No Ash Wednesday confession. My parish offers the standard 330-430PM confession time on Saturdays. Before Holy Week Father will have a penance service and then a generous number of confession times during Holy Week.

no confessions today (Ash Wednesday) – parishes offer confessions every Saturday afternoon before the Vigil Mass. Here in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, this is the second Lent our Archdiocese is having a program called “The Light is On”. Most parishes will have confessions every Wednesday during Lent excluding today and Holy Week from 7 to 8:30. One parish within my cluster is having confessions from 7:30 to 8:30 am Wednesday mornings before the 8:30 morning mass

Yes. I was at evening Mass today - 18:00. As usual there was Confession from 17:30 - however, Mass did not start on time, such was the demand for the sacrament of Reconciliation! It was great to see - I can certainly handle Mass starting late if it’s because of people wishing to make their peace with the Lord:)

Indeed, this same church - the cathedral - has just hosted an extremely popular annual novena (it ended yesterday). The cathedral was packed six times a day for nine days, and thousands upon thousands of people availed of the sacrament of Reconciliation!

Regularly scheduled confessions at my home parish and the parish on Capital Hill near my office. Nothing added nothing deleted.

No additonal confession time scheduled for Ash Wed. We have regular confession time on Saturdays and there will be at least 10 penance services scheduled the couple of weeks before Holy Week in our parish and the other 6 surrounding parishes.

We had two masses and two distribution of ashes services yesterday.

Our parish added a 6:30 A.M. Mass in addition to the regular Wednesday 12:15 Mass. There is generally confession 15 minutes before Mass; not sure if that was so before the 6:30 Mass today.

12:15 Mass was standing room only today.

No extra confession times during Lent at our parish. 15 minutes before daily Mass and 30 minutes on Saturday afternoons. The diocese schedules several “Opportunities for Confession” during Lent. Not sure why they don’t call them Penance Services.

We always have confessions on Wednesdays (morning and evening). We did have 2 Mass times in the evening, so evening confessions were moved.

The Bishops in this area have instituted a requirement that all Catholic churches be open for confession on Wednesday evenings during Lent. We will be moving our evening confession time to coincide with the Bishops directive, but for us it isn’t anything new.

We also have scheduled confessions on Saturdays. And of course, you can make an appointment. The priest who runs the youth group makes himself available for confession whenever we have a youth Holy Hour or other similar event–the kids really like that.
