Isaiah 43:10 what does 'after me' mean?

But does ‘after me’ imply that God somehow ‘ends’ or something?? :confused:
 
From Adam Clarke’s Commentary:
Before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me - This is a most difficult place. Was there a time when God was not? No! Yet he says, before me. Will there be a time in which God will not exist? No! Yet he says, after me. Are not all these words to be referred to his creation? Before me, no god created any thing, nor was there any thing pre-existent but myself. And after me, i.e., after my creation, such as now exists, there shall be no other class of beings formed. This mode of interpretation frees the passage from all embarrassment, and the context perfectly agrees with it. The words my servant, in this verse, the Targum understands of the Messiah.

Frankly, the english does not pull out the full weight of the Hebrew, the text simply means that God is sefl-existent, Is not begotton in the sense of mommy and daddy gods forming, birthing more baby gods. that No God can come into existence before God, because God is eternal, without beginning, and No God can come into existence, or is even birthed after him because God is without end, eternal, infinite. Think of it math wise, if you in theory have an line that is infinite in both directions, then there is not a number that can come before any number on that infinite streeching backwards that is small then the smallest number on the infite streeching backwards number, and if that same line if in theroy infinte going forwards that there is not a larger numebr than is on the line because the line continues to be larger throughout eternality.

As for using this text against LDS, the text simply says one can not be born who is in anyway God. Before his infinte being no one exists, nor after his infinite being no one exists. And, Isaiah goes on to say,

Isaiah 44:8
Do not tremble, do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one."

So, no other God can exist at the same time that God, exists.

So, because of his eternal, infinite being no God can exist before, during, nor after him. None, can be birthed.
