There are many Muslims (I dare believe the vast majority) who are lovely ordinary peaceful people. There are extremists in every religion and in any community of people one will find good people and not so good people.

It is a sin and gravely so, in the Catholic Church which has taught this consistently for 2,000 years. Don’t lump in protestantism with Catholicism on this issue or any other issue.

The Catholic faith is definitely NOT relativistic. Protestantism is all over the place, and is also relativistic too. You can compare Islam to Protestantism which it has more in common with, than comparing it to Catholicism.

I cannot believe that hate speech, calling Islam ‘a cult of violence and death’ could actually exist in modern Catholicism! Given Pope Benedict’s work to try and reach out to Muslims across the world, I would have thought that Catholics would be behind him. Islam actually helped Catholicism, preserving Greek and Roman texts which allowed for the theologican advances of the thirteenth century. And here you are, calling for ‘a new crusade’, the conflict which actually taught the concept of ‘holy war’ to Muslims.

Read the Quran - it condones horrible things against non-muslims. The only sure way to paradise for a muslims:

Then there is hadith- the actions and sayings of Mohammad- to be a good muslims you must follow these. Mohammad was a horrible, disgusting warlord!

What is wrong with that verse??. Tell me why did the British and French challenge Hitler about the War i.e. WWII?? Why the British and the French did not sit in their homes, sipping sweet coffee? If you are so much against any kind of action against those who disturb Peace then you should reconsider your attitude. Allah has made a sure promise of a good reward for those Jews and Christians and Muslims who fight in the way of Allah to support the truth. They fight to suppress the disturbance.

The above verse is to support the Truth (Peace), to stand up in favor of Truth and even to lay down one’s life in support of truth and Peace. The verse does not incite any one to start some disturbance. Note that it was the order of the day for the Jews and the christians and the Muslims (see the part above in blue color). But today I see that a christian is forgetting the message of peace and forgetting importance of upholding the truth.

Makkah Imam Urges Muslims to Shun Terror

As millions of faithful marked 'Eed al-Adhaa yesterday, Muslims were warned against heeding militant calls to wage terrorist attacks in the name of Islam.

The warning came, amid a surge in militant attacks in Muslim countries and beyond, from Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, imam of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, while addressing Haj pilgrims in a customary 'Eed sermon. The imam also advised Islamic scholars to preach moderation to confront this “rotten” phenomenon.

“Islam is the religion of moderation. There is no room for extremism in Islam,” he said.

He called on Muslims to “protect non-Muslims in the Kingdom and not to attack them in the country or anywhere. Islam is a religion of peace that abhors attack on innocents.” Militants were using misguided interpretations of Islam to justify violence, he added.

“Because Muslims have strayed from moderation, we are now suffering from this dangerous phenomenon of branding people infidels and inciting Muslims to rise against their leaders to cause instability,” Al-Sudais said.

“The reason for this is a delinquent and void interpretation of Islam based on ignorance…faith does not mean killing Muslims or non-Muslims who live among us, it does not mean shedding blood, terrorizing or sending body parts flying.”

Al-Sudais warned that extremism would ruin the Muslim nation, adding: “This phenomenon has expanded so much that scholars must confront it with concrete proof from Islam to protect our youth from its stench and rottenness.”

He added: “One of the main issues that needs to be tackled in principle is reform”. He criticized dissident Saad Al-Faqeeh who is calling to rebel against the government in order to create disunity among the people. He described him as a reckless adventurer who is obsessed with publicity.

There’s no logic in this inference, you don’t seem to know what being ‘relativistic’ actually means.

The logic is sound.

Islam has no authority who can declare him Kafir. Thus nobody can be a kafir in Islam. Thus anyone can claim to be a Muslim without actually having to actually believe in Islam, and Islam won’t take any action against the kafir.
Thus you can believe what you want - relativism.

The part about the stoning is interesting especially if you can compare it to what jesus did when the one woman was brought before him and they said they should be allowed to stone her. Its an interesting contrast.

I wanted to ask how many Hadiths are there? In wikipedia said there are 4,000. Actually, 7,000 but half of those are repeated. the Sacred-text webiste has 4 volumes of Bukhari’s hadiths close to 4,000.

Wonderful!Now we need to hear from the other thousands of Mullahs and Imams out there whose silence is deafening.Come to think of it why aren’t the millions upon millions of man-in-the-street- muslims screaming this to the high heavens.I know the Catholics and the Protestants did this during THE TROUBLES and hence theur cessation.I’m all ears.But I won’t hold my breath.

Who determines if someone is believing what is correct in Islam? Nobody has declared Wahabbi to be out of bounds.

Answer Nobody. This is why Osama Bin Laden can believe whatever he wants and does terrorism in the name of Islam.

Vile Servant, thanks for that news item. It is dated 21 January 2005. Thank God some great Mulla had spoken some good thing, but late by about 120 years. Better late than never. The above lesson to be peaceful was constantly given to all Muslims since 1890 A.D. But they abused the teachers in return and called them heretic. They called the advisers as Kafir.

Now that the great Imam has come around to the true Islam, we hope it will hve some good effect on the mind of the millitant Muslims and they will shun all evil programs against peaceful persons of all faiths. But it appears that there was no good effect fo the last 5 years. So his sermon is gone waste.

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian had forcefully preached against Jihad. But Mullas abused him. His followers (Ahmadis) are preaching peace in the world but they are being murdered. Ghulam Ahmad said that conditions for Jihad (religious war) do not exist in this age. He warned all Muslims who planned Jihad that it was illegal. Any one planning Jihad with weapons will go to hell. That was a very difficult time to give such lecture.

The above Mullah cannot take credit for what he has said. He is late in this field by about 120 years.

Let us see what is the reaction of other Mullas to this sermon of Peace. It is possible that the Imam will be marked as a Qadiani ( Ahmadi).

That is right. In islam, belief ( Eimaan) has 6 pillars. They are 1. Belief that there is no God except Allah 2. Belief in all the angels of Allah. 3. Belief in all the books of Allah 4. Belief in all the messengers of Allah. 5. Belief in the destiny. 6. Belief in the accountability of next world. That is definition of a Momin.

Similarly, Islam has five Pillars.

1. Belief in Kalimah that “There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” That is Salaat.
2. Praying five times (or more), that is to worship Allah only.
3. Paying 2.5% poor tax of all wealth not used during the year. i.e. Zakaat.
4. Fasting during the month of ramadhan.
5. Performing Hajj (pilgrimage) once in life time if conditions permit.
   That is the definition of a Muslim.

Please note that to be a Muslim, one has to have the faith (i.e. be a Momin)

Allah has given the name Muslim to all believers. That is granted in the hope that they will all pray and follow the rules and will endeavor to be Muslims. That they will submit to the will of God. But many are only name sake Muslims. They do not deserve to be called Muslims.

About the Kafir, there is much need to be understood. Every non-believer is not Kafir. Every one who has not recited the Kalimah is not Kafir. The Jews and Christians are not Kafir. Peaceful people of all other faiths are not Kafir.

kafir is only the one who is hostile combatant type of disbeliever to whom the message of Islam had been given peacefull, clearly. He/She does not accept the message of Islam and he/she does not allow any one to accept and follow the message. That is some kind of enemy of Islam.

Husaria, That is true. Moses, Jesus, Muhammad were messengers of Allah. That warning is to all those who oppose the messengers.

They must have done something horrible to deserve such a punishment.

That verse is about the pagans of Makkah who had persecuted and killed many Muslims for 13 years. When some Muslims could not bear the cruelty of the pagans, they left their homes and migrated to a nearby christian state. Those pagans went to that Kingdom (Ethiopia) to bring back those migrants.

When prophet migrated to Madinah, those pagans attacked madinah many times. Muhammad was not any criminal. He was very peaceful, like Jesus. It was only a difference of belief.
The pagans had no right to persecute any one just for the difference of beliefs.The pagans were told well before time that they will be defeated. That is what happened in year 631 A.D. Makkah was liberated. Now you please read the above verse 9:5.
What would you suggest for those old enemies in Makkah?? They were all prdoned by the prophet Muhammad. They were left alone for four months. The enemies were told to live in Makkah for few months and consider their past mistakes (sins).

If necessary, to repent. Otherwise remain a pagan (Polytheist). In that case he/she will have to leave the city and go some where else in peace. Please read all the story.

That was a war time in the war zone only. The people of the books were told to remain monotheists (believing in one God only) as per their own books… There was no harm in taking that pledge from them because most of the people of the books had started compaigns against Muslims by collaborating with all the pagans of Makkah ( Arabia). They had no right to do that. So they were also warned.

The list is very long. Hopefully it could all be explained easily later.

Sage, please understand the case of Jesus as follows:

Jesus gave the right decision that the adulterous must be stoned. But the first stone should be thrown by any one who had not committed adultery in his life time. So please understand.Jesus did not change the punsihment of adultery. He did not say " Do not stone her." He upheld the punishment but took a wise way to its implementation. That was very good indeed.

In a place where every one was an adulterer, why a poor woman should be stoned for adultery!! I do not know if the Romans allowed any one to be stoned to death without proper trial and condemnation by Roman court. The elders of the Jews were always trying Jesus, trying to trap him into some crime. But Jesus never gave them any chance. Sometime they asked Jesus about giving tax to Caesor.
This case of adultery was a similar case. Jesus surprised every one by his wise decision.

Please note that stoning for adultery was a punishment prescribed for the Jews. It is not for Muslims. There is no such punsihment in Islam. Some Mullas have suggested it for the Muslism too. It may be in some Hadith. It is a capital punishment. It is not mentioned in Quran.

Instead, a punishment of flogging only is prescribed for adulterers in Quran (24:1-2)

The point he was trying to make is that none of us are perfect so we have no right to punish others just to make us feel rightegeous. The leitmotif of Christianity is Forgiveness. Forgiveness is more beneficial to the one foregiving than the one recieving.
