Islam a selfish religion?

If the only reason to convert to Islam it to “submit” to God, then isn’t that being kinda selfish? There’s no motivation to be in a Loving relationship with your Creator, it’s just out of fear of the Last Day.

Correct me if I’m wrong.
I have no problem for submission to God, but not to anybody who determine who God really is. I even always want to know what is the reason of the teaching of the RCC which I belong to. That is why I am in this forum too. To see what others think about God, and compared to my own belief.

IMO, there is only one reason why anyone should revert to Islam i.e. because it is 100% the Truth.

Why settle for anything else which contains falsehoods?

Would you buy a food item which is very beautifully packaged but which contains traces of poison?
72 virgins waiting for islamic terrorists in paradise are also truth?
I strongly reject islam because there’s no freedom to leave islam. Muslims who become christians are persecuted and often killed. You are pretending your religion is so peaceful. Do you really think that anybody can believe it? In Saudi Arabia people are killed just for having a Bible. The worst thing in islam is that the relation between Allah and people is just like between owner and slaves. There’s no love, just fear. Islamic civilisation is completely inferior to the western one. You didn’t invent anything that really matters. You hate and despise “non-believers”. Were there any olimpic games in any islamic country? 6 millions muslims in Africa become christians every year. The end of islamic heresy is coming. And the best thing to make it happen is to encourage muslims to think and to ask their leaders unpleasant questions about islam.
Islam cannot be true because God doesn’t work in it. You can see miracles happening in christian churches and denominations: hundreds of healings, prophecying, gift of tongues. In the Catholic Church there are also many divine apparitions. In comparison with that islam is a spiritualy completely dead religion.

I myself am a fan of the first Sura, but I know that there are many others which incite fear and give detailed descriptions of the Day of Judgement. I cannot base my view of an entire religion on one quote from it’s holy book.
Hi

Still one more for you.

[67:1] In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
[67:2] Blessed is He in Whose hand is the Kingdom, and He has power over all things;
[67:3] Who has created death and life that He might try you -which of you is best in deeds; and He is the Mighty, the Most Forgiving ;
[67:4] Who has created seven heavens in harmony. No incongruity canst thou see in the creation of the Gracious God. Then look again. Seest thou any flaw?
[67:5] Aye, look again, and yet again, thy sight will only return unto thee confused and fatigued, having seen no incongruity.

Please keep on asking and I will quote still one more

Thanks

I’ve read two of yours, now it’s only fair that you read mine:

“In the Beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God; all things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

John 1:1-5

Scripture says:

Ecclesiasticus 1
34 For the fear of the Lord is wisdom and discipline: and that which is agreeable to him,

And our Church teaches that *imperfect contrition *will also get us into heaven.

**1453 **The contrition called “imperfect” (or “attrition”) is also a gift of God, a prompting of the Holy Spirit. It is born of the consideration of sin’s ugliness or the fear of eternal damnation and the other penalties threatening the sinner (contrition of fear)…

So, even selfish contrition is acceptable in the eyes of God. However, unselfish or perfect contrition based on love is what we strive for.

Sincerely,

De Maria

But it isn’t. It is almost exactly the opposite.
Why settle for anything else which contains falsehoods?
We don’t. We are Catholic.
Would you buy a food item which is very beautifully packaged but which contains traces of poison?
That describes Islam.

Sincerely,

De Maria

What is your definition of apologetics, I wonder?
And this is exactly what I didn’t want. I just wanted individual opinions on a thought I had. Just for intellectual stimulation. Nothing more.
Intellectual stimulation? You have a funny way of going about it. Didn’t you realize that your question is somewhat loaded against Muslims? You imply they are selfish. That isn’t a virtue.

Don’t think I am defending Islam. I don’t believe there is anything there to defend. But it seems strange you should lament the discussion you set in motion.

Sincerely,

De Maria

Mohammed was the epitomy of selfishness. Hoarding money and women and sacking cities to add to his valts…
