There is a state of heaven, there is a state of purgation and hell.

But at the end of the world, Christ said He would create a new heaven and a new earth, all would restored through Him and He would rule over all in glory.

So I believe how heaven is now is a place of union with God and those who love Him, enduring in the cross of this life. But for those the Lord accepts, we will have our bodies restored to us at the Final Judgment and a new heaven and a new earth will be one…

But this time in that future world there will be no tears and death, no crimes and agony and injustices but harmony in all of creation between God and His creatures.

So that is also why Christianity does not see violence as the primary means to bring about conversion, but rather love and service, but that we also have the right to defend ourselves in time of attack. The Christian response to war is one of defense, not aggression.

i think that material possessions not always keeps us from relationship with God , it depends on how you used it

as for example if we talking about sex , i can say that to use it within lawfull commandments with your spouse will keep you in your relationship with God , in the other hand , if you used it with strange woman ( adultery) then that will keep you separated from relationship with God

i want to answer your question , but i didn’t understand what do you mean by that **we are supposed to be in total union with God in paradise ** ?

do you think that paradise is a place of work , worship and test ?
actually we believe that it will be place of rewards in the first place
Would you agree that, regardless of our religious background, humans cannot fully understand God? That because of the way we live and think, we are limited in our ability to know him?

If so, you have part of the Christian understanding. Our understanding of heaven is not necessarily a place of endless worship or testing. It is a return to the state of man before the fall. Man will walk with God in the Garden of Eden once more. There will be no pain, no shame, nothing that sin has brought into the world.

Now I will submit to you that within that image of Heaven, it is possible that there will be “material possessions.” But they will not necessarily be the pleasures of our earthly existence.

Just for fun, I’m curious how the Muslims in this thread would answer this question from one of Jeff Dunham’s DVDs: “72 virgins…Why not 72 slutty broads that know what the hell they’re doing?”

Remeber, this is just a joke for entertainment purposes only 😉

for sure , the pleasure in paradise have nothing to do with pleasure of our earthly existence but in resemblance

2-25 And give glad tidings to those who believe and do righteous good deeds, that for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise).** Every time they will be provided with a fruit therefrom, they will say: “This is what we were provided with before,”** and they will be given things in resemblance (i.e. in the same form but different in taste) and they shall have therein Azwajun Mutahharatun (purified mates or wives) and they will abide therein forever.

I can’t understand how sexual lust will be allowed in the Islamic paradise, I personally think it’s the most evil thing here on earth and the reason for most sins…

(Colossians 3:4-5):
“When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.”

Thats backward thinking, islam isnt like that.Sex is natural and part of humanity. In afterlife we are not gonna live as souls but with a body like now, just withouth death, dissease etc.The good parts of this life are gonna exist there too,the bad parts not

but with a body like now
NO, NO , NO, I don’t want that physical body, I don’t want to lust, I don’t want to have sex, I don’t want to eat, I don’t want to buy and sell…:nope:

I WANT TO BE spiritual roaming and flying with and near our GOD…:yup:

If it isn’t like that, than where did the idea of 72 virgins come from is not from the Qu’ran? There seems to be many men who are willing to give up their lives to obtain a life with these women. Don’t you think you, a Muslim, owe it to the rest of us to make sure that fellow Muslims understand there will be no virgins, young boys, nor wine up there?

Things are so different up there,as i said all the good things here, that have bad sides will exist up there but without the bad sides.Wine will exist, but people will not get drunk by it(for example)

Great choice of Verses. I have an interesting question, are there apparitions for the people of the Islamic faith? There are many claimed by Christians but all are investigated by Vatican scientist and if there is no possible scientific explanation for the apparition then it is officially recognized by the Church, though not deemed intrinsic to the faith. Probably one of the most popular is the vision of Mary at Fatima in Portugal (1917). Where 3 children were visited by Mary while sheperding in the hills near their house. It is said that Mary gave them 3 secrets. One was a vision of hell, the next was about the end of WWI and the beginning of WWII and the third was about the attempted assassination of JPII. As for the children, 2 did not survive their childhood and the third, a girl, became a Catholic nun. Part of the reason why I ask is because it is reported that Mary had told the children, “More souls go to Hell because of sins of the flesh than for any other reason.” I welcome your thoughts.

Christ said there will be no marriage.

And for that, I don’t think He would change the rules…as you can’t get into the kingdom of Christ on this earth or enter heaven by fornicating, having sex out side of marriage. Marriage is for progeneration, for conceiving children…and in the Catholic faith – to know love and serve God, to love Him with all your strength, soul and mind, and to be with Him in heaven.

So if fornication is not a practice to get into heaven, it certainly won’t be happening once you pass through the door.

See a reference here…Our Lady of Fatima says more souls go to hell for sins of the flesh than any other sin.

For it is not about flesh, but principalities…spiritual…

A sister friend worked with a priest in mission land. After he passed away, she felt his presence with her for 3 weeks…and the impression she was getting was, ‘Sylvia, Jesus is tremendous! Jesus is tremendous!’

It is about Jesus…and we will rest in Him…and someday He will restore all things and we will have a new heaven and earth…and in that image, all we can say is to be pure, remain in Him, do not count the cost, and know that there is much more waiting for us than having food, wine and sex.

It is the flesh that leads us to sin and death. Why cater to it? The flesh lives for itself. It cannot save itself.

Arent’ there 3 questions a muslim must answer at the grave first before any judgement is passed…?

Something like the angel of death appears at your grave and will ask you these 3 questions…

What is the name of your god…? answer: allah

What is your religion…? answer: islam

Who is your prophet…? answer: mohamad and then you say the s.a.w. stuff…

If you immediately get any of these wrong, you are doomed for hell fire…

Can the muslim members clarify this…

Many Muslims have been having dreams of Jesus and are being lead to convert to Christianity.

I have the impression from Muslims that either in this life or next, Muslim men having multiple sex partners is good but having a glass of wine is evil.

Once you are in heaven, a glass of wine is good and you can keep on having sex. Sounds not much different than an Alcoholics Anonymous support group.

Not actually, after death, after you are buried and then at the night the angel will ask you those 3 questions.Even though you know the answers you will not be able to say it if you were bad in this life. After you pass that test you move on to live in Berzah(as a soul,it is the world of the dead people). There you will stay untill judgment day,and when judgment day comes your soul and body will unite again-and then you will go to hell or to paradise

So right now,all the dead people, even the prophets, reside in Berzah(world of dead). While in christianity you believe that people go to heaven/hell direct after death

One cannot enter heaven until all inclination to sin and the flesh is purged.

So until the final resurrection, heaven is a spiritual place, not a carnal one.

Thanks much - can you elaborate on the:
Even though you know the answers you will not be able to say it if you were bad in this life.
I’ve read that your torment will start immediately with some sort of big headed moster like snakes eating you up continusly and repeating this torment… .

Explain what the tradition on this is…and is there more…

Thanks again

In islam we believe in a similar thing, most muslims will have to go through hell to get away their sins, after that they will enter the paradise. While nonmuslims will stay in hell forever

But right now there is no hell or paradise because all the dead people live in berzah. So when a person dies he doesnt go to heaven(as you christians say),some muslims think berzah is just the same like this world while others believe it is a state of mind where you dont know you exist…like sleeping
