I once worked at a restaurant with an Egyptian Muslim. He insisted that the Copts were not ill-treated. Finally out of frustration I copied off everything I could find on the net about how they were persecuted. He glanced at it and then said, “well they deserve it.”

In other words he lied to me and when caught blamed the victims. If you think Copts are well-treated in Egypt then talk to some Copts here or just google it. They are persecuted routinely and are treated as second-class citizens. Often they cannot repair their churches. They must contend with discrimination daily. Do NOT believe the lie that they are happy under any form of Islamic law. Pray for our Coptic brethren who suffer for the faith.

Let me get this straight:

Meedo lives in Egypt right now and speaks Arabic.

You worked in a restaraunt with an Egyptian who agreed with Meedo, but got information from the net or elsewhere (who knows where?), and he gave you a one liner response…did it ever occur to you that maybe he got tired of you badgering him all the time? Did you tell him that Mecca should be nuked before he said this???

I’m going to say, based on the experiences here, Meedo’s account is substantially more likely to be true than cestusdei’s. You’ve now met two Egyptians who don’t have a problem with Copts, and based on some papers you copied, you conclude they’re wrong?

What a charitable response to meedo’s calm and orderly attempt to explain the perspectives of muslims today.

Certainly, this kind of thinking is one of the attitudes I won’t be a party to anymore. I mean no offense when I say that I hope you will rethink what Christianity is doing to you, just like I did.

There are more attacks on Muslims and Mosques in your country than there are attacks on christians in the whole arab world. If there were systematic persecution of copts then why 10 million of them are still living in Egypt? No Muslim ever lived in spain after your Holy Inquisition. My Country has more churches than Whole Europe Has Mosques .

But all this doesnt differ. Cause i am muslim and i am BAAD. Its very frustrating.

Look, there are many muslims. And our faith is simply not getting any less. You will have to live or deal with muslims. This blind anger and absoloutism will lead no where.

I am bieng frank with you , but you see this honesty as an insult. This can only prove to me that America is a dangerous country With blinding arrogance.

i hope honest people will understand what i mean.

The Inquistion had no jurisdiction over Muslims only Christians. It was a result of 700 years of Islamic imperialism and oppression. They were frightened of another take over. It wouldn’t have existed if the Muslims hadn’t invaded. Another example of how they blame the victim. Also another example of how they have to go back centuries for our supposed outrages while all we have to do is read todays paper. When will they face up to the truth?

C’mon, Meedo, give us a break! And the Saudi royal family is not buddy-buddy with the Wahabi clerics? And the Iranian government is not totally run by the Mullahs? And there is no politicking going on between the “secular” rulers of various Islamic countries and the clerics? Don’t blame the West for the corruption of your rulers.

Agreed. I’ve experienced the lies firsthand. One example is a Muslim who agreed that waging* jihad* is an imperative of all good Muslims but that Christians and Jews are not infidels because we believe in God. Just one of many examples of how Muslims hope to lull us into complacency by shaping their explanations of Islam (lies) for Western ears.

Really? Do you even know where I live? I provide the evidence from the Copts themselves that they are persecuted. So it is up to you to prove that Muslims are more persecuted in my country. Oh… by the way, you have committed tu quoque. Not a good method of argument, just to let you know.
