I’m sorry, but I don’t know how you can post such links with a straight face (as it were). If someone directed you to a website called whoreofbabylon.com to learn about catholicism, wouldn’t that make you the least bit skeptical about their biases?
Given that the Church isn’t the Whore of Babylon? Yes, it would.

SillyAllah isn’t Whore of Babylon, though. It’s just a silly address.

In either case it should make one question the reliability of the website’s authors as a source of impartial information.

Which is why research is always good.

Which is why I posted these links second and the other links first: It adds weight to the author’s information.

Mohammad didn’t change human nature as you seem to think.
I don’t think he changed human nature; he took advantage of it. Would you say that Mohammed was a “reasonable” person? Wage war, take plunder, give some to Mohammed, earn brownie points to get into heaven. What a religion!
If Elwill’s behavior here, which from what I’ve seen of it is respectful and polite, qualifies as jihad then the term becomes meaningless. Opening a bag of potato chips could qualify as jihad in your book if a Muslim does it.
A google of “jihad of the pen” produced about 23,000 hits, while “jihad of opening a bag of potato chips” produced zero, except there were a few related hits, your comment being one. Ironically, one of the related mentioned an article about a bomb found in a bag of potato chips. Badmouth the source if you wish, but I say you can’t make up stuff like that.

Humor aside, this Islam apologetics website, the first result of googling “jihad of the pen”, covers the topic from the Muslim perspective. Here is a short excerpt:
We start with the basic undeniable fact that all establishments, societies, associations, jamaats, leagues, councils, brotherhoods or any other organised Islam-orientated group which publishes its views or those holding similar beliefs about Islam, must necessarily be deemed as actively engaged in the Jihad of the pen.
And We have expounded the (Quran) to them in diverse ways that they may take heed, but most men would reject everything but disbelief. If We had pleased, We would have surely raised a warner in every city; So obey not the disbelievers and strive against them by means of (the Quran) with a mighty striving. (25:51-53)
The reason we have chosen these verses is to illustrate the point that the resurgence of Islam must necessarily come from first principles, i.e.; the exposition of the Holy Quran and the original principles of his great religion. Hence a person who takes up the pen in the cause of Islam is indeed striving hard and is engaged in the Jihad of the pen. [Emphasis added to call attention]
Unquote.
I’m sure someone will accuse me of taking it “out of context.”

In any event, it appears that you think that since Elwill’s appearance is nice, Islam is good.

From: sillyallah.com/2007/10/basic-rules-of-discussing-islam-with.html :
“No matter how many Islamic errors and contradictions you show a Muslim, they [sic] will either deny the facts, get angry at you for pointing them out, or start lying and bargaining their [sic] way through it in hopes that everything will go away.”
This author sounds like he has been debating planten, especially the part about “hoping that everything will go away.” * There was a fellow poster, “samaan” by username, who was very knowledgeable and provided some excellent contributions to this forum, but planten succeeded in driving him away. Here is a sample of what transpired before [as you read this series, ask yourself if “sillyallah” is wrong]:

So, how does the word “polemic” apply?*

As I think someone else pointed out to you on another thread, they don’t imitate him literally.

So how is Elwill guilty of it?

I wouldn’t go that far. I think there are good and bad things in Islam. But I could turn that around and say that you think because Islam is bad, Elwill is evil (though you haven’t produced any evidence of that yet). Kind of uncharitable.

I’ll take a look.

Planten is an Ahmadiyya, so he’s actually a heretic in Islam’s eyes. That’s why I don’t take his posts seriously.

As I think someone else pointed out to you on another thread, they don’t imitate him literally.
So how do they imitate him? Figuratively?
So how is Elwill guilty of it?
In view of Islam’s past and more recent history and the concept of jihad of the pen, Elwill’s appearing nice in my mind stands a good chance of being just that, jihad of the pen. I’m not saying that jihad of the pen is necessarily bad by itself; all religions, I suspect, have authors who advocate them, and we can accept or reject their work. However, it’s real easy to cause people to think that because a particular Muslim is nice that Islam is good.
…But I could turn that around and say that you think because Islam is bad, Elwill is evil (though you haven’t produced any evidence of that yet). Kind of uncharitable.
I don’t think that. Out of 1.3 billion people, there must be some who are honestly seeking God and wish no one harm. But I think it would be a mistake to give Islam the benefit of the doubt in view of its history. How many times have they told us something like, “It was written in the Qur’an, that all nations who should not have acknowledged Muslims’ authority were sinners, that it was our right and duty to make war upon whoever we could find and to make slaves of all they could take as prisoners, and that every Muslim who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise.”? If a bunch of angry guys with shaved heads and swastika tattoos wave their copies of Mein Kampf and shout, “This is our belief! Long live Hitler! Death to the Jews!”, one would be extremely naive not to conclude his kind is up to no good. Jesus said, “By their fruits shall you know them,” not by some rigorous mathematical proof.

Giving Elwill the benefit of the doubt, will his “reasonable” voice prevail once Islam takes over? I have a difficult time thinking it will.
I’ll take a look.
Fair enough.

Ah yes, that was one of my favorite moments in my time here at CAF 😃

:ehh:

planten,

what is your answer for that…
Taqiyya?

I’m unaware if we have any Moslems here with us these days. I don’t come around much anymore. In any case, It would be appreciated for some commentary on the religion itself and its sacred text. No bashing, flaming, or anything else inconsiderate (especially mention to terrorists) here. Please if you will, just write a bit about Islam and/or the Qur’an so I can deeper my understanding of what they’re all about. Now I’m not saying nothing negative necessarily, because as I understand it, Mohammad has caused some heat lately. Merely enlighten me, but be kind in nature.

P.S. No bogus claims like Arabic is the mother of all languages.
Here is a fact, I have Muslim friends and they are not that religous, my kind of people (so technically they aren’t “true” Muslims, whatever that is) and they can drink any of you Catholics under the table.

Whooped your Catholic asses in the Crusades and they’ll whop it at taking shots of Patron!!

It insults your God as well because Allah is the arabic word for God. So the christian who made this site was sooo idiotic that he actually said “silly God”.

pathetic

Funny how no body says this when a christian comes along who is overly against islam and insults islam in various ways…

wasalam
The truth is an insult if only you wish to live a lie.

Ignore March, he is just trying to cause trouble.
Hey the OP asked to contribute something we know about Muslims, and I did. Maybe it’s their Arab side that likes to party.

Sorry Catholic, did the defeat of the Crusades sting even after all these years?

No one is talking to you, Eucharisted (whatever that means) go post on how you like to make your own rosaries, as for you Muslims, any of you want to hang out? I assure you, we won’t break too many Koranic laws.

Loosen up people, too much religion on the head you can’t laugh at the stupidities of both your beliefs. Can’t you see, like Borat by playing the heel, you join together, but once I’m gone your back at each other’s throats.

I swear, you people need to learn from Obama, have a beer and make up.
