Islam: Sex slave?

It’s not my intention to insult Muslims, or Islam, or to degrade anyone. I do have a question regarding something that I heard somewhere about a “jarya” having something to do with Islam and this meaning sex slave. That a man can have “up to 4” wives, and a “jarya”?

Please, opinions only from those who are knowledgeable about Islam.
 
Jarya is a slave. I think you are talking about what the Quran calls “right hand possessions” which are women a Muslim man can possess in addition to up to 4 wives.
 
women that are considering marriage to a muslim man, need to know that he belongs to a religion that allows this.

even if he loves only you at this moment, you might have to share him with several other women in the future.

having to share your husband with another wife is bad enough, but the thought that one of these women sharing the bed should be called a possession is utterly repulsive. one man 5 women.

or are his right hand possessions plural? can he have more than one sex slave?

very, very disturbing.

why would any woman marry into that?

This topic is embarrassing to many Muslims, specially converts. there was an episode on TV, where a sheikh was talking about it, and the Muslima interviweing him felt sick to her stomack and bombared him with moral questions that the Al-Azhar sheikh couldn’t handle it and left the episode in a scandalous way, live on tv.

Now since they “must” believe in such stuff, some are content with the answer “but Islam elevates the status of slaves!”…true the slave is not considered a wife, she can be sold unlike a wife, but she has some rights…priceless.

It’s exactly like saying Muhammad couldn’t abolish adoption without sleeping with his adopted son’s wife.

So yes a man can marry up to 4, divorce and remary as he feels like it, and he can “possess” women as much as he wants. Women can say nothing since this is “divine morality”. At best she is allowed to ask for divorce…see, a divine morality that might lead to divorce…but we all know few Muslimas will ask for divorce in Muslim countries first because it is usually men who provide, second because a divorcee is a bad reputation, and third because it is better that 10 women share your husband than being a divorcee with children, fourth because the husband will take custody of the children when they reach 7 years old…so it is a lose-lose case for women…they either submit or learn to deal with it.

i think i need to cool it because i have taken in too much about islam and it is making me sick to my stomach as well.

it is slavery since the woman owned can be sold.

What did Soloman do with 300 wives and 1000 concubines? Also please do not forget that David needed a young hot beautiful girl to heat him up in the very old age. It was provided to him But it did not work. Do you read those passages of the bible?

You have nothing to say about marriage and divorce because you do not follow any law. You have no law. Why do you allow even one wife. You should not marry at all in line with the way of Jesus. Then you have the unmarried fathers in the church?

The Muslims were engaged forcibly in wars by greater powers (christians and Persians). Wars were imposed on the Muslims. Many young men died in the Wars. Ladies became widows. There were not enough men for the young girls too. So the permission to MARRY was given with a limit.
A good hint of such things was prophesised by the prophet Isaiah chapter 4 verses 1 to 3. That was a news of the time of our prophet Muhammad and his people when seven woman will catch hold of a man and would request him to marry them… Please see Isaiah ch. 4.

Remember that previously, there was no limit to the number of wives the persons could have. Slave trade was also going on. The Jews and the christians were engaged in slave trade at that time. It was not the Muslims doing the slave trade. The marriage was restricted to four wives.

It is better to have a number of wives instead of visting and using other ladies (secretaries) illegally. Why not have a well known declared relation of marraige instead of secret affairs? You forget the condition imposed on the husband who has more than one wife. Please read your own history and scripture before jumping onto the Muslims.

Your problem of Divorce is also bad. You went against the divorce. But could you stop your own people from divorce. NO. They rebelled and invented the divorce by legislation. The day the divorce became legal for the christians that day the church teachings went down the drain. It was a good proof that the church had no guidance in many or any matters.

I have seen the christians who meet (sex) and keep on meeting without marriage until they produce a child. If they do not produce a child they change partners. If they get a child then they get married, not before. Now please tell me what should you call that child in English?**

Planten, Catholics read the Bible objectively. Because you read something in the Bible does not mean it’s condonable. The Bible shows the spiritual evolution of man throughout time - the good, the bad, and the downright ugly. Catholics are realists - most of us, at least, believe in looking the truth in the face. The Bible doesn’t delude us with fantasies, but rather, gives us a truthful, good, hard look at humanity. Contrast the change in humanity as you move into the New Testament and Christ’s fulfillment of the Law. We Catholics practice the good, and learn from the mistakes of others.

In Jesus hasn’t told you the whole story. There’s more. But I don’t see reason to go into detail, other than to warn.

Isa, please do. I’m very interested in hearing all points on this issue, those of Muslims included. Good honest forensics and love of truth is, after all, what Love and Catholicism bring us to.

Maybe you’re thinking of mut`a? That’s an accepted and legal practice of a Muslim man taking a temporary wife (who can be a Moslem, Christian or a Jew). They engage in a “marriage contract” for a specified period of time, like a night, a day, a month or whatever; and it also stipulates how much the woman is to be paid for performing her wifely duties.

As tempted as I am to add some editorial comment, I don’t think it’s necessary……
