Maybe you are correct about the Emirates, but in Dubai the majority population is Western (I have been there).

Let’s also remember that Turkey used to be a Christian country as well, and Islam was spread there by the sword.
I have also been to Dubai. I lived and worked there. You will see many westerners in the central city, but the suburbs have hardly any. The places westerners frequent have many other westerners.

Semper Fi:
If you are a citizen of these countries and Christian, you will pay a tax.
There are no Christian citizens of Saudi Arabia. And why did you say those westerners were in Dubai?

What? I didn’t. I said that I have been to Dubai and when I was there the majority of people that I saw were White/Western Christians.

I never mentioned that there were Christian citizens of Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia probably is not the best example to compare the implementation of Islamic law, I’ll agree, because even most Muslims regard the Wahabbists (of which the majority of Saudi Arabia belong to) as a a heretical sect.

The legal system in Saudi is closer to Sharia law than in any other country. The Wahabis push for 100% Sharia.

If you are an immigrant it doesn’t mean you’re a citizen.

There are no Christian citizens of Saudi Arabia. Christians who live there as resident aliens pay no taxes. No Christian in Saudi Arabia pays taxes.

Please tell me when I said there were Christian citizens of Saudi Arabia? No Christian citizens of Saudi Arabia is all the more evidence that Islamic nations don’t see Christians as equals.

Also you can’t tell me that you’ve lived in these countries and have never heard of the Jizya tax.

Of course Christians and Muslims are not equal. The Saudis can see that. So can most people. One group is Christian; the other is Muslim.

Are you talking about the Zakka tax? That is one of the five pillars of Islam. It only applies to Muslims. So Mulsims in Saudi pay more tax than Christians.

If you are talking about the old special tax for non-Muslims in the Levant, it is a thing of the past.

I repeat: I paid zero taxes in all the years I lived in Saudi. Neither did any of the otjher westerners. Neither did the 500,000 Filipino Catholics. Neither did the 4 million Indians, Sri Lankans, and Pakistanis. The one million non-Saudi Arab Muslims did pay Zakka.

It is amazing that you do not know of the Jizya tax, having supposedly lived in Islamic nations. Jizya is not one of the five pillars of Islam, because Muslims don’t pay the Jizya. Jizya is part of Islamic Sharia law.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jizya

9:29, Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

“if” is the key word. there are no christian citizens in saudi arabia as far as i know, only christian labourers. so none of your brethren there pay jizyah.

it seems that what ortho’s talking about is flying right over your head. he has heard about jizyah and made that clear in his last post to you. no christian in saudi pays the jizyah because no christian in saudi is a citizen of that country. they are there as resident labourers and get tax free money.

once again, please show me where I said there were Christian citizens of Saudi Arabia? I wasn’t even talking about Saudi Arabia specifically… “these countries” meant Islamic countries. this fact seems to have gone over your head.

Does this clear it up for you?
no. your comparison is still invalid.

makes no difference. most muslim countries today (note the distinction between muslim and islamic countries) do not give citizenships out to foreigners–muslim or non-muslim. so your point of argument is pretty much rendered irrelevant.

It’s not amazing at all. It’s not enforced. It’s not collected. It’s not an issue.

I find it amazing that anyone thinks it’s an issue today.

In this exchange, what countries did you mean when you refer to “these countries?”

again :banghead: Islamic countries ruled by Sharia law.

even if what you claim is true, which i dont think it is, it’s still part of Islamic Sharia law. not collecting this or forcing this tax on Christians who live in Islamic countries (who had lived there before Islam became the majority religion) would render these countries non-Islamic if they didn’t.

Semper Fi:
again :banghead: Islamic countries ruled by Sharia law.
That’s interesting. Saudi Arabia is the country whose legal code is closest to Sharia law.

Did you mean Saudi? If you did not mean Saudi, can you tell us what country you did mean?
