If you have noticed, the fighting that’s allowed in these verses is only in self-defence. And even though, Allah (swt) keeps stressing on the believers not to transgress the limits (i.e. NOT to take the self-defense as a motive to annihilate every one).

Peace
Dear Edris,

Islam in Indonesia is not under threat. It is illogical for anybody non muslim to attack Islam in Indonesia. But why churches are burnt? Some of the muslim says the church was built without permit, while it is difficult to obtain such permit. Some church with permit and with policemen preapproval were stormed when they are conducted their permitted activity. Can you explain from the point of view of Muslim of why muslims are easily be offended for something that is not related to you, there in Indonesia?

Hi

Quran/Islam/Muhammad clearly mention that worship places of every religion must be respected:

Quran
[22:40] Permission to take up arms is given to those against whom war is made, because they have been wronged and Allah, indeed, has power to help them. -
[22:41] Those who have been driven out from their homes unjustly, only because they said, ‘Our Lord is Allah.’ And if Allah had not repelled some people by means of others, cloisters and churches and synagogues and mosques, wherein the name of Allah is oft remembered, would surely have been destroyed. And Allah will, surely, help him who helps Him. Allah is, indeed, Powerful, Mighty -
[22:42] Those who, if We establish them in the earth, will observe Prayer and pay the Zakat and enjoin good and forbid evil. And with Allah rests the final issue of all affairs.
Unquote

Those who burn worship places of other religions are not only the wrongdoers in the eyes of Allah and the humanity, they hinder peaceful dialogue with other religions, but they understand not.

Thanks

Paar,
The lack of Charity and kindness in some of this tread is one example of why Westerners have trouble accepting Islam as a religion of peace. I know that it works the other way as well. Both sides have much to learn.

Two questions for everyone on this thread.
First, why would Jesus teach peace and forgiveness, praying for your enemies and those who hate you and turn the other cheek while Islam teaches destroy those who fight you?
Second, does Islam have any understanding at all of free will? It seems like the answer is no. You should remove all temptaion so you will not hav ethe chance to sin.
Hi

In my view teachings of Moses,Krishna, Jesus etc and Muhammad, all the ProphetsMessengers are no different, only people interpret them differently due to certain misconceptions. The miscoceptions are to be removed, and that is what I try.

Thanks

Jesus declared Himself to be God many times in the Bible. John 10:25-33. The Jew clearly understood what Jesus was saying in this passage. By claiming to “equal with God,” He was saying that He and the Father were one in Purpose in securing the believer forever. Only God can give eternal lfe and secure it to the recipient forever.

The problem with Islam is that when Muhammad invented his religion, he trusted in heretical Christians to influence what he believed to be true about the Christian faith. Muslims believe that Christians and Jews altered their holy books to “distort” and hide the “truth” about Muhammad being the prophet. This of course, is a lie. Religions that existed many years before Islam would not have reason to alter their texts.

The main problem with Islam is that it is not founded in reason. It is founded in political reality. Take by force, subdue the weak. To this day, true religious discussion is not allowed in Islamic society. You may ponder trivial things, but to question Islam is to fall into apostasy, which the Muslims correct by death. To be a Muslim cleric you do not need to be learned and reasonable. You only need a good memory to memorize the Koran and repeat what it says, for Muslims believe that everything in the Koran is true, even though it contradicts itself many a times, and is really a rambling book full of hate and death.

On the contrary, Christianity is founded in reason, for in pondering and questioning your faith you gain a greater understanding and appreciation of it. This tradition has given us the Western world and democracy, while the stagnant thinking of Islam has relegated its people to dictatorships and stagnant governments. Creativity is stifled, imagination is evil to the Islamic society. Art has florished in the Western world.

I think it is useless to try to argue with our Muslim friend here, for he is only reading his own interpretation of Christianity and does not care to learn what we truly believe. Maybe he is afraid that the Truth will set him free from the slavery that Allah has imposed on him.

Christianity invites you to choose. We have free will and choose to be Christian or not, whereas Islam forces you to believe and not question.

I prefer my loving God who is my Father, who allows me to choose my own path of salvation or damnation rather than the Master Allah who subjugates you.

Dear Paarsurrey,

Misconceptions are unavoidable when we discuss the revelation of God to human, and how we, human, response back to God. We are indeed culturally different to one another. Even people who come from the same region geographically, might have different cultural background. That is not to name differences in the level of education, access to information, economic condition, etc. It is futile to remove this “misconceptions” (if I may borrow your terminology). But, sincerity, charity, openmindedness, willingness to respect others, are needed for such discussion of differences of faiths. I do appreciate your charitable effort in promoting your belief. Eventhough I disagree in many topics, your ideas and your postings has broaden my mind.

Hi

Thanks for your appreciation, though we disagree on many points yet we have understood one another’s viewpoint and we feel close to one another. I do know the difficluties, but at least we are trying.

Some social sciences give definitions " other things remaining the same, such and such principle would be this . . . "

What I mean is that other things remaining the same all revealed religions came to introduce GodAllahYHWH to the humans that could be done by chosing and sending ProphetMessenger from among the human beings, that was destined by God. So in that way all religions are One.

I know other things hardly remain the same due to as you have rightly observed “might have different cultural background. That is not to name differences in the level of education, access to information, economic condition, etc.”

Thanks

Hi

One of my learned friends here has written the above words.

I beg to differ. Kindly provide clear passages from the NTGospels which favour reason the most.

The present openmindedness or peaceful enquiry in the West is more correctly, I think, due to the fruits of secular thought rather than Christianity.

I think you agree with me.

Thanks

may i just say thanks to edris and everyone who is trying to let people see the real and wonderful ISLAM…
thanks alot…
👍

I do not agree with your opinion. On the contrary, the only place where secular thought could emerge was from the Judeo-Christian tradition. I doubt secular though could emerge from a strongly Islamic country.

Hi

I don’t agree with you.

Secularism is often associated with the Age of Enlightenment in Europe, and plays a major role in Western society. The principles, but not necessarily practices, of Separation of church and state in the United States and Laïcité in France draw heavily on secularism.

This Age of Enlightenment in Europe was in fact influenced by Muslims also.

Thanks

If the use of alcohol is going to be used as a bad example by muslims, isn’t it fair to point out that those countries in the west which were listed, along with the per capita consumption figures, are highly regarded as places to live by muslim immigrants? Muslims are moving to these western countries where they are welcomed and subsidized with money earned by infidels. Gratitude and modesty do not seem to be an important element of muslim culture and bad manners are celebrated rather than criticized. The Muslims that I know personally who drink are on the main, easier to deal with than the ones who do not.🤷

The Quran Kareem
Chapter:7/Surah:7( Al-Araf)
Ayat/Verse: 157

Those who follow the Messenger, the Prophet who can neither read nor write (i.e. Muhammad SAW) whom they find written with them in the Taurât (Torah) (Deut, xviii 15) and the Injeel (Gospel) (John xiv, 16)], - he commands them for Al-Ma‘rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and all that Islâm has ordained); and forbids them from Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism of all kinds, and all that Islâm has forbidden); he allows them as lawful At-Tayyibât (i.e. all good and lawful as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods), and prohibits them as unlawful Al-Khabâ’ith (i.e. all evil and unlawful as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons and foods), he releases them from their heavy burdens (of Allâh’s Covenant with the children of Israel), and from the fetters (bindings) that were upon them. So those who believe in him (Muhammad SAW), honour him, help him, and follow the light (the Qur’ân) which has been sent down with him, it is they who will be successful]. (157)

SubhanAllah/Halaluiya

Oh well anybody can Priest Now. Whatever come in there mind. But what ever i am saying comes from Allah/God to his last Messenger/Prophet and Servant i.e, Muhammad SAW(PBUH)
