Islamic burqa vs Nudity.

It’s really amazing how those secular countries are taking steps to ban the Islamic burqa (aka., full veil) yet they allow public nudity!!! http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon13.gif

If they want to ban the burqa THEN they should also ban the public nudity :mad:, I personally have been to many of those secular countries and I saw many nudity ads in the streets not to mention the nudity on the beaches, yet no remonstration for that!!!:dts:

In general what is more constructive and protective for the societies, banning the burqa or banning the public nudity…
 
I think the real answer, Sam, is that Islam has to follow its own logic and keep men indoors to save them from temptation and women go out and do all the things that need to be done. Not only that, if men were kept at home, just think of how much trouble the world would be saved.
 
Well, I think it’s of terrible concern - all these poor Muslim guys who are incapable of controlling their desires if they glimpse the smallest part of a woman. Surely, it would be a kindness to resolve the problem by never letting them out of their homes until such time as their mothers convince somebody to marry them when they could be transported carefully to another place of refuge from the street temptations to their ferocious libidos.
 
It just proves that we as a people tend to go to extremes! One thing about a woman wearing a burqa is that she will never have a bad hair day!!:eek: The burqa is much a cultural clothing as well as a religious directive by some Islamic rulers.I suppose it protected the ladies from the harsh sun and wind driven sand storms.The same as The Arabian men of the desert wear the robes and head gear.I personally think that banning the clothing that a woman chooses is a bad thing.I never feel threatened by a burqa,I just do not hold to what the Islamic religion teaches.I kind of respect the modesty that is displayed by these woman in a public western setting.Far more edifying than the worshipping of the body and flesh that is out there on display!There is certainly no mystery left in a woman who dresses like a street night woman on the make.!

As for nudity–appartently my mother told me that a was born nude!!! Adam and Eve walked in Paradise in the nude.So the nude body is something wonderful and beautiful,artists and painters were and are drawn to this.“Thankyou Lord,for I am wonderfully made”.But because of our fallen nature,we tend to see the nude person as an object of desire and lust ,failing to turn to praise God the Creator of such beauty.Married couples have the freedom to enjoy the sexual intimacy that God ordained to fill the earth and multiply.So by all means,the sameless pagan display of the body as a market tool for advertising is bad.The sexualizing of young girls for money and profit is totally immoral.Yes the “nude” beaches for mixed company is not good,though a lot are in secluded beaches which can be avoided.

It is the balance that needs to be considered by governments,to avoid a puritanical view of the body and the immoral display of the body.It is the avoidance of extremes that needs to be avoided.In one way the introduction of the berqa really allerts the western countries of a cultural shift away from a judiac/christian one to an Islamic cuture and religion–this is what frightens many.On the same page we have our values being taken over to pagan ideas in which nudity is the devils playground!

Yes it’s, what do you explain the nudity pictures and ads on the bus stops, on magazine covers (which are sold on most grocery shop), and in TV ads!!!
there is a fundamental disconnect between the two issues and arguing against the first by using over-stated points destroys your case to some extent.

I agree with you “burqa” is not a threat to the societies.

I’m not condoning the banning of the burqa, but, from my understanding, it is for security purposes. And, unless certain parts of the anatomy are rigged to explode, nude is more secure:D. It is discriminatory in that the dress of the nuns who still wear the traditional habits are not being banned, unless I missed that.
 
There’s fairly consistent pattern in much of Europe that when a country is suffering economic distress its government starts directing its population’s attention towards unpopular minorities. As if a few women covering their faces when they go out is most serious issue the EU is facing right now…

Personally I’m against the state legislating how people can and cannot dress, and I find the idea profoundly disturbing.

Sam, you know I am concerned about the images of women in the West and also have experienced the stereotyping, which is bad.

The first time I saw a woman wearing a burka was right after 9/11. She drove a van to the bank with an American woman next to her. She walked into the bank with her burka, a head cloth with writing on it around the top of her head, and she wore dark sunglasses…and she walked in like she was top banana, intense. I saw her again at our grocery store and everybody was staring at her…

She really frightened us. I wanted to tell her to go back. I don’t like those woman. A Bosnian Muslim told me the ones coming here wearing the long robes are politically motivated. The newcomers will sue us if we voice any complaints.

Can you, Sam, imagine this happening to your country, if foreigners came in and started suing everybody for not liking their demeanor…trying to take over your country?

This morning a friend sent me a video that was made recently here in the United States with over a thousand Muslims attending. It was all about Islam coming over America. I saw not one single act or attitude of love from those people, just this continual arrogance. I saw them as evil, wearing the veil of religion and hiding all their malice towards us…they have entitlement issues…they showed slides of our land, our cities and accomplishments, and how they are intending to take them and dominate them for their own.

They did nothing here. And yet they want to take it. The devil is a liar and a thief.

Finally, my daughter is friends with a Muslim Jordanian girl she has known since high school. My daughter has spent her time there. The friend has several brothers. My daughter knows Arabic words. My daughter was a virgin until she got married, same like her spouse. But at that time when she was a college student, she was on campus one day. There were all these foreign Arab men students her age. She passed by and she heard them calling her very bad Arab names. She said they later had a big meeting at night, heard alot of applause and it was closed to the public, only for these foreign people who are getting the benefits of an education here.

So I do not like Muslim dress here. It is inflammatory and I personally have had trouble with Muslims who are now in American bought housing they prepared for them. One hit me with her car, and then she and her husband denied the accident. She hit me so hard her license plate was imprinted on the back of mine, and the husband treated me like I was some kind of immoral person. She was wearing the long clothes but did not have her face covered. I told the insurance agent to let them know I was very insulted by their lying and arrogance and to not treat our people like this who have shared our country with them, and allow them to practice their religion…they would never do the same for us.

So what is worse…a woman with scanty clothes who goes about her business…or people with religious clothes who lie and steal and want to infiltrate to take over our country?

Sorry, I am seeing too many bad things now.

Can’t hide a bomb on a nude body.

Are we going to start covering up the Sistine Chapel with it’s many nudes? Get realistic. Their is nothing wrong with nudity there is something wrong with the sick human mind that sees it as offensive.

Get real nudes pose very little threat to national security no clothes no bomb stapped to their bodies no offense.🙂
 
I agree, I just didn’t want anyone to get the impression that your pictures depicted burqas. I have no problem with the hijab etc., if that’s what a woman freely chooses to wear. I do, however, believe that the “veils” that completely conceal one’s identity are a security issue and not necessary from a modesty standpoint.

As you pointed out, some women can completely circumvent the idea of modesty by their choice of clothing. Even if it completely covers everything, it still may not be modest. 🤷

If a man is going to be totally consumed with lust and cannot control himself simply by seeing a woman’s face, then I agree with Kaninchen, the men should be locked indoors where they won’t be tempted by all the sinfulness of seeing a woman’s face. :rolleyes:

By comparison, Muslim men do not have even a fraction of the kind of power and influence that Muslim women apparently possess in huge abundance.

Muslims do not need to develop WMDs, our women are actually our secret weapon to conquer the planet in the name of Islam.
 
This is a false choice, Sam. As others have pointed out, the extremes of either type of dress are unpalatable. I am not in favor of either public nudity or the burqa (Muslims have told me that the burqa is not required, but it might be worn in the most conservative places…fine, but don’t legislate it, and I think there IS a legitimate security concern in some cases, e.g. driver’s licenses or other identification).

As I’ve said before in response to posts like yours, there’s a great deal of activity and attitudes in the “Christian” (ha!) West that is not worth the support of any decent people, no matter what their religion is. A Christian response to immorality is personal transformation through confession and repentance. We know what the human body is meant to be, and it is not a tool to sell magazines or motivate immorality. Society makes it that way because the businesses that produce pornography and filth are obviously not guided by Christian principles. We are! Or at least we are supposed to be. 😊

It is like if your neighbor does some injustice to you. Do you do the same back to him? Maybe you want to, but the example of Christ shows you a better way. The example of Christ also shows you true sexual morality and modesty, so that you don’t have to abuse yourself and others or dress up like Charlie Brown on Halloween. These are not the only choices!

I’m not sure whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing. I’ve met plenty of Muslim women and found them by and large to be very kind. Perhaps they are less inclined to the sort of dangerous fanaticism you are displaying in posts like this. If that is true, then I hope Muslim men never attain that kind of power and influence.

As for “conquering the planet in the name of Islam”…never. Never, never. I am not inclined to fighting over religion (we see what that does in Lebanon, India, etc.), but you must understand that we will never give up the Cross to live in another one of your stupid millets. Why you apparently think that you are fated to rule the world because of what your book or its interpreters say is beyond me. Your religion already rules over a large part of the world that is NOT COINCIDENTALLY largely dependent on Western technology, science, financial aid, etc. Isolate yourselves with terrorism and bigotry and you will find that it hurts your own people a lot more than it can hurt the non-Muslim world. If twenty centuries of martyrs (and counting!) has not killed us, twenty more will not either. Christ is better than war booty. You don’t have anything better. Your prophet was short-sighted and worldly, and so is your religion. It will attract the same, all the while large numbers will desert it for secularism (like every ex-Muslim I’ve ever known), Christianity (like 6 million Africans are doing every year), or one of their other ancestral religions (like an increasing number of new Zoroastrian Iranians for whom Islam is still seen as a foreign import are doing every year).

Stop spreading terrorist ideology here, hamba. We don’t want it.
 
If you don’t want it then stop responding to Hamba. His purpose is just to provoke people; stop giving him the attention he enjoys and he’ll go away.
 
Most males would want the public nudity thing, most of us would instinctively be pretty excited…until one really thinks it through…Ever shop at Walmart and look at the 400 lb. ladies with mustaches in there? When one thinks of that, maybe burkas should be mandatory for some! LOL 😛
