Islamic burqa vs Nudity.

OP makes a solid point though. A local by-law in my city permitted women to walk around topless if they so pleased. I was perplexed by its proponents as not a single one actually had any desire or intenet to do this, but they expressly determined that they should have a right to if they so wanted.

What the law permits it encourages. By making certain actions permitted under law, it is no different than saying those actions are in fact positive rights or in the order of positive rights; however, there is no civil, individual or public merit in many instances. What is a right under the law, to be frank, should be argued and defended for the good it permits, thus negating the bad it “might” permit. Abuse of Free Speech, for example, is rampant; nonetheless, the very real civil benefits of Free Speech to society (especially democratic ones) makes it necessary. When something cannot be argued in the positive, it falls under the order of license or privilege, which can and should be guarded with regulation.

It’s really amazing how those secular countries are taking steps to ban the Islamic burqa (aka., full veil) yet they allow public nudity!!! http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon13.gif

If they want to ban the burqa THEN they should also ban the public nudity , I personally have been to many of those secular countries and I saw many nudity ads in the streets not to mention the nudity on the beaches, yet no remonstration for that!!!:dts:

In general what is more constructive and protective for the societies, banning the burqa or banning the public nudity…

Usually the nudists are on a beach. don’t go there if you dislike it. And you won’t find nude men parading around as nude females and robbing banks. Driving a vehicle also will not be inhibited by nudity. And one thing for certain, you can identify them easily.

Nudists are harmless. I find burkas offensive in my society. I do not find nudists offensive because if I don’t want to see them - I stay away from them. I cannot do that with muslims who demand they be among us. And then on the other hand if I go into their ‘sensitive areas’ that are in my country - I take my life in my hands! They are a political statement and I also find that they are very much inforcing a type of segregation of the muslim female from everyone else at all times.

That first sentence is pretty much the way I feel about Islam.

But no one is persecuting Muslims. This is a redefinition of the word. Here is how it goes: if the unbeliever does not adhere to the Muslim laws then they are persecuting the Muslims and therefore anything that we do to them is their fault. If a Muslim decides to migrate to a country where burkas are not the dress code and that country deems burkas offensive, dangerous (as in driving and for id purpses in petty crimes, etc) then that Muslim should obey the law and take off the burka. There should be a separation of Church and State and Muslims are trying to push their sharia laws onto us and therefore blur that separation for Islam only.
