We also have Beth Din courts for Jews. Where both parties to a civil (not criminal) dispute want to use a third party to resolve their differences then they can chose to do so. It is called Alternative Dispute Resolution. I would be surprised if similar provisions were not in place in at least some US States.

Criminal Law is still exclusively covered by the UK Courts.

This sort of nonsense about Europe being about to become part of the Ummah comes up from time to time (usually on the ‘Secular News’ section) and I have to say, having done the job of showing what silliness it is many, many times (no, I’m not going to bother doing it now, people can use the search facility), I’ve come to the conclusion that there’s some kind of desperate need amongst some American Conservatives to believe it’s true.

There was a recent article in a UK daily on the same theme - when you read the article, however, there wasn’t any evidence at all - unless one counts the sales pitch of an American Conservative journalist (it’s virtually always journalists of the ‘shock, horror, end of the world’ kind) selling a book - if there was ever a recent case of ‘I met this guy in a pub and he said . . . .’ journalism, this was it.

About spain, you are forgetting that the moors massacred a lot of jews in spain and Morroco during the middle-ages. In 1011 AD, 400 Jews were killed by Muslim mobs in Cordoba. In 1033, 6000 jews were killed by Muslims in Fez, Morroco. In 1066 Muslims killed 4000 Jews In Granada. In 1465 further massacres of Jews ensued again leaving thousands dead. So you are not one to talk of the moors and their treatment of Jews.

Muslims did all this then hypocritically complain about the Spanish inquisition and go on about how great the Moors treated Jews. What hypocritical nonsense, its just pure lies.

I would remind you that the YouTube video linked to in the OP of this thread contained false figures to try to boost an anti-Islamic scare story. Islam is not the only religion that has foolhardy misinformed members trying to push an agenda. Isn’t there a quote in the Bible about motes and beams?

Better yet, stop paying attention to those imams who spread fabricated truths to dignify a false religion.

I do not think there should be any separate religious courts for the jews or muslims. And I think the judiciary should be kept completely secular. Even for civil matters, it should be handled by the state. Does the Church of England have its own court too? lol anyway i think its a very slippery slope.

You cant tell people off for spreading Islamophobia against Muslims and then say just ignore the hatemongering of Islamic Clerics that’s a huge double standard. And its not just a few clerics many Muslims are indoctrinated with this ideology though the Islamic media within their respective countries which spread an ideology which has its origins in Wahabism, the most intolerant form of islam known to man.

I have even seen even Muslims comment on the rise of Islamist TV channels in their countries, spreading these hate ideologies. As I see it Islamism and Islamophobia are directly linked and one is the cause for the other in some cases.

A little research would have shown you that the answer to that one is “yes”. See Wikipedia: Ecclesiastical court. As a Catholic you should be aware of the existence of Church Courts in the Catholic tradition. Both the English Anglican Church and the American Episcopal Church also have them.

As to the general point, I have no problem with either sharia law or Jewish law being used in the ADR procedure where both parties agree to its use.
