Islamic expansion

In todays day and age, the media portrayal is one of Islam, as a religion which is effectively taking over the world-in terms of numbers of followers.

The Catholic Chuch has always been the numero uno religion in terms of numbers, but now for various reasons, this may no longer be the case. the pope has said (I am am quoting very liberally, but this is the thrust of it) that the Catholic church may have to drop the dead weights and effectively purify itself and become a "creative minority" like the mustard seed again and thus build from that.

How are we to /reconcile/interpret these 2 facts. (hope that is not too vague! )

the pope was only referring to the west when he said that we may need to have smaller numbers of catholics. the idea that islam will be more numerous than christianity is simply not true and not backed up by facts. Christianity is EXPLODING in asia, africa, and south america. the future of christianity is in the south. christianity is actually growing at a much faster rate than islam in the world.

Well i am a muslim ,

The thing is that numbers wouldnt differ much really . Islam doesn’t spread because God has shifted the bless. Islam spread because it provided common sense answers to questions.

I dont know who spreads more these days , so much talk is going around this and one would never know really .

I say to him that we have always been the minority, and that those who do not believe in Islam have always been greater in number than us.

I also tell him that when we were superpowers on Earth, we were few in number in comparison to the Christians.

I say the Catholics are losing the True Faith, having abortions, and wiping ourselves out. One of the Saints said, (paraphrased) that even if there were a handful of Catholics, that is enough, that the Faith is still the one and only Truth.

I would say that the Catholic Church is still in the lead … How many millions of people are born without a choice in places like Iran? Free will is the measuring stick and more people choose Christ. If the entire world was a democracy with freedom of religion I have no doubt that Christianity would prevail in a heartbeat.

Check these numbers out it adds up pretty quick.

Islam was considered to be a superpower from the 8th century until the late 15th century.
