islamic leader of iran threatens to "Punch" the west today

Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Monday that Iran is set to deliver a “punch” that will stun world powers during this week’s 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution.

“The Iranian nation, with its unity and God’s grace, will punch the arrogance (Western powers) on the 22nd of Bahman (February 11) in a way that will leave them stunned,” Khamenei, who is also Iran’s commander-in-chief, told a gathering of air force personnel.

i almost posted this under the secular news forum, but then thought this is from their top islamic cleric.

please pray for the safety of every human being on this planet.

yikes, man! :eek: that is too harsh a punishment for the ignorant. pray their hearts are opened to reality.
 
You never know, perhaps the clerics of Qum have devised a whole new future for Islamic societies - one not based on Islamic males spending their lives imprisoning women and annoying goats?

what God wishes is fine by me. what YOU wish is revolting.

look, i totally agree it is a false and dangerous religion, but we all have bought into some falsehoods at some point in our lives that ended up hurting other people. pray for everyone walking around with bad information in their heads and you’ll be praying for yourself as well.

God desires all men to be saved and does not send anyone to hell. going to hell is our choice.

may i be nosy and ask what church you belong to?

we can only hope, but the treatment the protesters have received is shocking and from what i’ve read has been pretty effective in halting their movement.

well let’s hope they don’t punch any men, women, children or goats.

I don’t take much notice of these loud mouths. The threat from the Iran and the Middle East is not military, despite their hyperbole. The threats are oil, or more specifically, an oil embargo, and the funding of Islamic fundamentalism and evangelism across the world. A single nuclear warhead could take out Tehran, and a couple more would obliterate their other major cities, and what’s left? The US still has thousands.

The West, or specifically, the US could easily destroy Iran. The main threat is oil.

I don’t its accidental that God has so engineered history that the Moslems have got most of the accessible oil at the very time the West is super-industrialised and dependent on oil as never before in history. Just at the very time we’re becoming post Christian and almost pagan, He’s left a thorn in the Western political and religious flesh.

in terms of nukes i agree they’re not a problem yet, but there are other ways to hurt us besides oil. regardless, they have already stunned me with the horrific treatment of their own people. going to bed now. i guess when i wake up i shall see what these thunderdolts had planned.

worst case scenario, they test a nuke. but knowing these guys its probably just rhetoric.
 
In the Old Testament , whenever God’s people were unfaithful and falling into sin he allowed them to be oppressed and sometimes taken into captivity by their enemies (the forerunners of Islam ) roundabout
Nowadays , when the Church and civil society become lax and sinful God uses the same means to bring them to heel.
Perhaps , we need a worldwide Rosary Crusade …
 
No need to worry. This is simply a political issue within Iran. They are re enacting the revolutionary riots. He is right though…if he gets a huge response from the Iranian populace there it will re affirm that the people want the current government there that was started in the 1970’s. That’s all.

Insult is always a poor substitute for argument.

Mind you, I would never say without qualification “Islam is peaceful.” Few things can be said without qualification of any major religious tradition.

Also, we don’t know what the Ayatollah meant, or even if he was referring to some kind of violent action. So far, as far as I have heard, no such action has occurred today–and God grant that it doesn’t (isn’t it something like 8 PM in Iran now?).

God has not informed me that He has chosen you as His replacement. Where might I find official confirmation of this momentous news? You will I hope, pardon me from withholding congratulations from Your Hypothetical Divinity until you are confirmed in your high office.

On second thoughts, pardon doesn’t seem to be part of your platform. Did you get some of the more militant seraphim to support a coup? I know that the present Deity has been criticized for His overly lenient policies (some well-connected sources have hinted that a previous high personage in the celestial court withdrew from the Presence over similar concerns). But I have to say that I look on the possibility of His replacement by you with some trepidation.
